Interestingly today, the Russian economy is also exploring food deliveries, but in a very unique way.
A new Russian ready-to-eat food delivery app that brings restaurant-quality dishes to your doorsteps without the hassle is coming your way.
The app is named Wildberries, from a leading digital platform in Eurasia.
However, even if it is associated with Eurasia, it was established way back in 2004 in Russia as a leading eCommerce platform with markets in Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
Go big or go home. It is also partnered with sellers in China and the United Arab Emirates in the Middle East. How about that!
Wildberries provides state-of-the-art, sophisticated IT infrastructure in order to support customers and sellers. It also features a developed logistics network that spans over 135 facilities and 83,000 pickup points across its markets. In 2025, Wildberries served more than 79 million customers, processing over 20 million orders a day.
So, what is this hot news all about? Wildberries is launching a pilot service that will deliver ready-made food from restaurants and coffee shops.
During the pilot phase, Wildberries will operate in select districts in Moscow and St. Petersburg. It will later expand to other cities in Russia.
Elizaveta Shlein, head of the Delivery-by-Seller division at the united company Wildberries & Russia, told Ridesharing Forum, “With the launch of the ready-made meal delivery service, we are entering a new phase in the development of the Wildberries ecosystem. We are only at the starting point of our FoodTech direction, which we plan to scale across all regions where the company operates.”
Via the Wildberries app, the platform will accept food orders. It won’t be Wildberries per se that will prepare the meals, of course, but its partners before it delivers the food via their own logistics in just within an hour.
For instance, one of its partners, food delivery service Dostaevsky, has over 450 ready-to-eat items. These will be available on Wildberries.
The Russian market for restaurant-ready meal delivery is booming. It is estimated to have grown by 30 percent in 2024, reaching the equivalent of $8.3 billion.
According to Statista, ready-to-eat meals in Russia has already generated a little over $11 billion this year. Its largest market is China.
Over the previous year, food products surpassed home goods, clothing, and electronics for the first time in terms of online sales volume in Russia.
Also, Wildberries has been recently expanding into fresh food sales through its partners.
