First, a teenage mom and her baby have managed to escape the Lyft car after it traveled around seven miles from their destination. Possible kidnapping? Yes.
Also, another Lyft driver accused of raping their passenger pleads, not guilty! And, Lyft prices in San Francisco surge in unbelievable levels. Here are the scoops.
Possible kidnapping
A teenage mother was in tears when she told the police how their Lyft driver managed to lock her and her baby inside the vehicle, then driving miles and miles away from their destination.
A week ago, at around 4:30 p.m., an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police officer responded to a gas station after receiving a call from the 18-year-old mom.
She told the police that she booked a ride to visit their relative’s home, which is just a four-mile drive.
A Chevrolet Malibu picked her and her baby up. Then, moments after, the driver canceled the ride, and told the mom, “I don’t know why I did that.”
Then, the mom realized they were driving seven miles away from the destination. She tried to get out of the car with her baby, but the driver told her the safety car lock was engaged. Creepy.
She only got the chance to escape, thanks to the wailing of the infant, which prompted the driver to roll out the window, from which she reached out from and unlocked the door. The mom and the baby managed to escape.
The driver is already facing kidnapping charges and criminal confinement. He was detained at the Marion County Jail.
This Lyft driver and his account were already immediately banned after the authorities learned about the incident.
Not guilty
Meanwhile, in other Lyft news, a Lyft driver has sexually assaulted a passenger in the Boston area, particularly outside her Somerville home during the past weekend.
The suspect was identified as Luis Carlos Ramos Teixeira, 27 years old, and was charged with rape and indecent assault and battery of a teenage woman.
However, what’s also creepy is that Teixera has reportedly pleaded not guilty, according to ridesharing media.
“The behavior described is reprehensible and has no place in the Lyft community or society,” a Lyft spokesperson told Ridesharing Forum.
Lyft prices surge in San Francisco
Here are more Lyft news to enjoy. Prices of Lyft, Uber, and Waymo in San Francisco have surged to new heights, and this isn’t what passengers would like, of course.
“There are certain things you come to expect living in San Francisco — the grass at Dolores Park will always be just a little too damp for your blanket, the temperature will drop 10 degrees that one day you don’t wear a sweater and, of course, ride-hailing prices will go through the roof during major events such as Outside Lands,” San Francisco media wrote.
