A man in Ohio is facing several criminal charges with the police after he attacked and strangled a Lyft driver during a ride, and even made anti-Muslim threats.
Five criminal complaints at the Lebanon Municipal Court were filed. The 59-year-old suspect, Gardiner Ross Mosher, has been charged with felony strangulation, ethnic intimidation, aggravated menacing, assault, and unlawful restraint.
The incident happened last May 18th in Monroe after Mosher and the Lyft driver argued over a petty issue that is, directions during the ride. But, you would agree that no driver should be harmed only due to confusion with directions during a ride.
According to the papers filed, Mosher started pushing the driver while the car was moving, even nearly causing a crash! And probably killing both them.
The police assumed that Mosher wrapped his arm around the driver’s neck, strangling him and impeding the victim’s breathing. He also hurt the driver’s right eye, causing blurry vision and a scratch above the eye.
Investigators also alleged that Mosher threatened to kill the driver while making anti-Muslim threats and slurs, allegedly saying, “I’ll k*ll you, you… Muslim douche!"
The complaints also noted that the incident had been captured on video, where it is seen that the driver was fearing for his life.
The Lyft driver tried to get out and leave the car, but was prevented from doing so since Mosher continued to strangle him. Keep it locked right here on RSF for more ridesharing news!
