The program is known as Penn State Berks Emergency Rides 2026, set up under Lyft’s programs themselves. It is being implemented in partnership with the Penn State’s Office of Transportation Services, customized for the students.

“It is a great option for students who need to go to urgent care outside hours that our nurse practitioner is on campus or after hours when Health Services is closed. It is also a great way to provide transportation to a hospital or pharmacy and back to campus,” stated Brian Samble, the students affairs director in the campus.

Samble’s office takes advantage of this program to cover the costs if students need to visit hospitals for emergency purposes, then return to the campus. Rides are also available for those who want to travel to the pharmacy.

Meanwhile, the Office of Community Engagement utilizes the program to provide students with rides when they need to do community service off-campus. However, students must secure their passes.
