Lyft Black Tightens Policies For Its Drivers

Under Lyft’s wide range of sub-services – on top of Lyft XL, Lyft Extra Comfort, and Lyft Black SUV – there’s Lyft Black. Lyft Black is a premium service from Lyft that uses black cars, complete with black exteriors, black leather interiors, and four seats. Maneuvering the vehicles are top-rated and experienced drivers.

These black-exterior sedans or SUVs provide a more comfortable and stylish ride compared to the standard Lyft options. Riders prefer Lyft Black for a higher standard of comfort and luxury. In here, drivers meet the most stringent requirements, such as a high rating and specific vehicle standards, to provide elevated experiences.

Recently, Lyft has announced new changes for Lyft Black drivers, tightening its policies for them. Starting September 17th, drivers must have a driver rating of 4.95 and higher in addition to existing requirements to retain their access to Lyft Black and all its perks, such as extra earnings.

Prior to the update, Lyft Black drivers only needed to meet the criteria of driving an eligible vehicle.

However, beginning September 17th, they must have a driver rating of 4.95 or higher, have no more than two service flags in the last 50 rides, have no more than two cleanliness flags in the last 50 rides, and have no more than two safety flags in the last 50 rides.

It is a challenge for drivers, especially if they’ve got passengers who are obsessed about giving reviews, how could they keep them from doing so, right? But, if this is all for the convenience of both the driver and the passenger, isn’t it?

Don’t worry, since these eligibility requirements are available on the Driver app, so you could always check. If you fail to meet a requirement, you will be clearly called out, so you know what to improve.

In order for you to maintain five-star Lyft Black rides, you must keep your car spotless inside and out. You should also get used to welcoming passengers by name, offering them bags, and opening the doors for them.

Passengers also like good music, a comfortable temperature, and small talks here and there. You might also need to invest in bottled water and mints to offer to your passengers.
