Lay-Off Issues: San Francisco Bay Area Commands Over 150 Professionals To Go Home From Amazon Offices

Here’s a BTS, or a behind-the-scenes look at what is happening with Amazon deliveries lately. You know Amazon as the world’s leading eCommerce platform that lets you retrieve your shopping cravings, whether you want these at your doorsteps, or at your desk. RSF has the scoop.

The issue

Eyes on the prices, goals on the prize, or the target, or that lucky day? Workers at Amazon are decrying that some of them are getting fired from their jobs, and their co-worker friends are receiving the same e-mails, too.

In their areas, two Amazon delivery services are closing and laying off people, so that’s why. Are these hooligan decisions? Probably not.

As of this time of research, Amazon has not released its official statement to the media, or to ridesharing media, at the very least.

These two divisions of Amazon, laying off its workers, are Xpress Delivery, plus, this OnPoint Logistics will be ceasing operations at its San Francisco, and the other in Oakland, respectively.

The figures are also devastating. A total of 80 employees will be told to go home immediately in Oakland’s Xpress Delivery, while there are 96 workers to be displaced from OnPoint Logistics, which is to cease its operations at its Bay Area base, where the jobs are to be cut, a government filing stated.

Again, these divisions, or Amazon delivery service partners, are independent businesses that partner with Amazon to deliver packages from a local fulfillment center to the delivery station using the platform’s delivery vans and provided apparatuses.

A little bit some history. Last January, the eCommerce company announced it is cutting 16,000 jobs from its team, announcing even more layoffs within the month of May recently in its selling partner services group, or team, should you wish that thought.

This isn’t a historic moment, since other companies like Cisco, Oracle, and Facebook’s parent company, Meta, and, guess what? Including LinkedIn and other relevant affiliates. Sounds interestingly, no really!

How Amazon works

Gratitudes, and much thanks to Amazon, people can shop for their needs, daily essentials, luxuries, and more for themselves or for their families, maybe even friends, at times.

Shoppers can access Amazon through their official site, and start browsing the seemingly endless catalog of items. Adding to your cart is easy, in merely a few taps. Then, be sure to check-out and choose that payment method. Waiting for the items’ arrival at your residence, or corporate building, right? Excellent, it is easy, too. Read through the reviews of the other buyers to see if the products are suitable for you and your needs.

Sadly, only a few workers will survive the cut, with both these divisions to permanently cease operations. As for the replacements, you would have to wait. For more delivery news, keep it locked right here on RSF, your trusted news source on these matters.
