Nevertheless, Lyft has free vouchers for you when you’re attending concerts in Wichita, Kansas.
A Department of Transportation $30,000 grant is funding a Wichita suburb to promote responsible driving while treating concertgoers this summer season.
Those attending select concerts in Capitol Federal Amphitheater could get their $20 ride vouchers from Lyft and Uber, and hold it well since this will be for a cause: to cure impaired driving.
“[The city is] looking to target one of the most preventable causes of traffic fatalities, which is impaired driving after large public events,” stated Andover’s assistant city manager.
They added that the city managers applied for the Kansas Department of Transportation grant after this opportunity was brought to their attention. $12,500 of the grant will be used for ride vouchers, while the rest of the amount will fund educational materials surrounding the risks of driving under the influence.
“These grants fund education enforcement and outreach efforts specifically aimed at reducing traffic deaths and serious injuries,” the city managers further stated. “We’ve done some radio spots, billboard spots, and then just the printing of materials themselves.”
How to receive the ‘Concert Vibes, Safe Rides’ voucher
To be eligible for the vouchers, remember that when buying a ticket, concert attendees will have the option to pre-plan their Lyft or Uber ride. Additionally, they must sign in to be placed throughout the venue.
Furthermore, if passengers attend a concert and become too impaired to drive, they can sign up for the safe-ride-home coupon.
And, during the first concert of this initiative, the vouchers are to start low, and they will increase.
Eligible concerts
The concerts where the vouchers can be used include Sawyer Brown & Lonestar, and the Audacy Summer Concert Series, happening until October. There may be two on this list, but the Audacy Summer Concert Series comprises a lot of events. The city manager stated this is the first of its kind.
