Wondering about tinned fish? Well, tinned fish isn’t always similar to canned fish, believe it or not, much more to corned beef!
Tinned fish contains seafood preserved by sealing them in an airtight container tin cans, then heating it to sterilize – in the manufacturing plant, alright – giving it a longer shelf life that lasts years. Hence, your tinned fish is ready-to-eat, featuring fish species like tuna, sardines, salmon, and mackerel packed in various flavors of oil or water, either mild or spicy. It is also filled with nutrients like protein vitamins, and omega-3.
The main reason why people like to order tinned fish is that it’s convenient. Say you’re too busy for the day, that you are unable to cook your meal, or your mom isn’t able to prepare the dish for the day. Then, you can easily prepare tinned fish instead.
In a sudden turn of events, it is recently revealed that tinned fish orders on Grubhub tripled this year! That’s right.
According to ridesharing media, tinned fish orders tripped in 2025, with grocery purchases up to a whopping 209 percent from 2024!
This was from Grubhub’s Delivered Report 2025, which Ridesharing Forum also subtly reported during the previous days. It tracked consumer shopping habits from the day 2025 started to October 15th. In the report, it has been said that consumers went “foodmaxxing,” or preferring to order meals, snacks, and groceries for their maximum nutritional value and functional payoff, rather than whether or not they are popular on social.
This trend report also evaluated several orders made throughout the year, telling the same story, that this was the year food had to amaze people. People wanted nutritious and healthy meals early on.
Now, back to the tinned fish story. You could actually cook several recipes aside from the usual tinned fish as it is, or microwaved tinned fish straight from the can. These include Anchovy Parmesan Shortbread Cookies, Feast of the Seven Fishes Grazing Board, Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs with Caviar – not literal – Caviar and Herb Butter Brioche Toasts, Anchovies and Lemon Butter Mashed Potatoes, Homemade Salmon Mac and Cheese, and more.
