Insurance Provider Guardian Now Working With Uber Health To Support Disabled Passengers

The Guardian Life Insurance Company of America, colloquially known as Guardian, has recently collaborated with Uber Health to support the well-being of its members.

Several individuals diagnosed with either short-term or long-term disabilities in the United States have the need to quickly bring themselves to the hospital for check-ups and treatments. They usually enlist the help of transport services like Uber, but they are paying more.

Thus, Guardian has partnered with Uber to provide the Guardian Group Benefits members with an approved long-term disability claim an Uber voucher in the app, which they can use for rides to medical appointments or even rehabilitation services. This way, they can reach the healthcare facilities with ease and convenience without the hassle.

Under this partnership, Guardian members can access their care plans better and support their return-to-work journey.

"When our members are dealing with an injury or illness that prevents them from working, their focus should be on getting well. Guardian’s aim is to help remove barriers to recovery.” Michael Prestileo, Guardian’s chief commercial officer, stated.

He added that considering the “strong connection” between their members’ psychological well-being and physical health, this collaboration with Uber Health will take away the stresses and anxieties around reaching healthcare facilities, so members can focus on what matters the most: their well-being.

"Millions of people with long-term disabilities need access to high-quality chronic care in order to aid recovery and return to their normal routines,” Uber Health’s global head Zachary Clark said.
“By working with Uber Health and providing members with an Uber voucher that can be used for transportation to essential care appointments, Guardian can maximize its benefit offerings to reduce barriers to care, improve health outcomes, and help people lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.”

Uber Health is a technology-driven solution that provides patients with stress-free and cost-effective rides to hospitals and healthcare-related deliveries for patients.

Aside from patient and caregiver transportation, Uber Health also facilitates healthcare worker commutes, prescription and equipment deliveries, meal deliveries, clinical trials, and senior independence, among others. For instance, providing rides for senior citizens who can no longer drive themselves.

With headquarters in Manhattan, the Guardian Life Insurance Company of America is among the biggest mutual life insurance companies across the globe. It has a network of more than 3,000 financial representatives in over 70 agencies in the country. They provide life, dental, disability insurance services, and more.

“Today, we stand behind millions of consumers, helping them prepare and plan for a bright future for themselves and their families. We help business owners care for their employees. And we help people recover and thrive in times of unexpected loss,” the media said about Guardian.

Through time, these two companies will reportedly expand the tie-up to also include other Guardian members, not just those with long-term disability claims, such as those with short-term disability claims, so they can support their ever-changing needs.

The partnership and the availability of the Uber voucher will commence soon this month.
