Indian Food Delivery App Giant magicpin's New Ad Pokes Fun At The Ranveer Allahbadia Controversy

In India, an offensive comment from a YouTuber at an episode of an Internet show is driving the online community crazy, and it is presently the talk of the town in the country. Meanwhile, magicpin, branded as the third biggest food delivery app in India, has decided to poke fun and take a dig at the controversy by releasing a new ad in reference to the viral moment.

Comedy limits

Whether or not magicpin only used the controversy for clout chasing, it showcased its point when it unveiled a visual campaign that reads in the local language, “INDIA’S LOST TALENT. Comedy ki limit honi chahiye par discounts ki nahi."

This translates as “India’s Lost Talent. There should be limits on comedy, but not on discounts” in English.

In the graphic design, a group of animated characters is shown laughing below the ad’s tagline. The image resembles the judges on “India’s Got Latent,” the show of stand-up comedian Samay Raina under fire.

“Can we get back the magic in comedy?,” magicpin wrote in their post on X.

People are amused by the ad of the delivery app, sharing their sentiments with the platform.

One netizen commented, “Discount should definitely be unlimited,” like unlimited Korean barbecue, while another said “there will be no limit on discounts, this is even better than comedy.”

Controversy

Recently, the Internet show aired an episode where the YouTuber, Ranveer Allahbadia, asked a contestant an inappropriate and disturbing question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”

This is very private, so the remark received a lot of criticism and backlash from the online community, with several calling it distasteful and unacceptable. The episode has already been deleted online, but police authorities are taking action against the YouTuber, who goes by the name BeerBiceps.

Police

NDTV reported that a team from Mumbai’s police forces has visited Allahbadia’s residence following his comments on the Internet show.

Multiple complaints have also been filed against him, as well as cases against other contestants on the show, including Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija.

Allahbadia has issued an apology on Monday.

“India’s Got Latent” is a YouTube show that’s also a wordplay for the “Got Talent” franchise. The show provides a platform for contestants from all over India to showcase their hidden talents, hence the name’s inspiration. It is also inspired by the live podcast “Kill Tony,” which features various acts, including singing, dancing, comedy, magic, and more.

The show features several guests, including Allahbadia.

magicpin is also touted as India’s number-one local savings app, where you can order not just food, but also fashion, electronics, beauty, and more.

“By connecting retailers big and small with customers, magicpin creates value for all in the hyperlocal retail ecosystem and allows them to leverage the fast-growing digital world,” stated magicpin’s official website. “magicpin exists to create a marketplace that is more local, relevant and celebrates the thrill of shopping and savings for all. That’s the magic of local.”

It is partnered with several renowned brands, such as Puma, U.S. Polo Association, and McDelivery.
