People don’t realize how much goes into starting a business.
I’ve started 2 businesses and have run a few others.
I can’t even imagine trying to get a worldwide app network setup like lyft and uber.
The funding, and coding, and marketing just boggles the mind.
I don’t agree with every choice they have made, but it’s theirs to make.
I would like to see higher rates because the market can absolutely bear it, but it’s not my company.
They told me what the rates are. I said ok and chose to drive.
I have a full time career that I worked hard to achieve… Nobody handed me anything. People that come here expecting big homes and 100k a yr for driving around picking ppl up and dropping them off kill me! These complainers are also the same jerks that are proud of how they treat people poorly… Sad to say, that’s not how you get anywhere in this life… And yes, developers and entrepreneurs sacrafice So much to create these companies and to employee people… This is a capitalist country… If you don’t like it, create a competing app… Or sit the fuk down and accept the terms. I drive to save money for a home… A home I’m not entitled to… I home I’m working hard to EARN.
In the beginning, the original drivers on the platform who paved the way and built up the business had a professional outlook on driving rideshare and did not sign up for the same terms and conditions as the new drivers. When Uber suddenly slashed the rates, there were Black Car drivers and fleet drivers who lost their livelihoods, sued and won. They didn’t recover nearly what they lost. Striking won’t change anything. But, it doesn’t change the fact that Uber is a lying, thieving, sinister company. Flash news, you can love rideshare, and still hate the thieves at the same time. Don’t forget to count the lawsuits they’ve lost for their fraudulent business practices. Let’s not give them a free pass for fucking the people who built their business.
I guess in the 1900s when children, women, and men were being maimed and injured in poor working conditions I guess we should have told them to go work some place else. They don’t own the company.
The point is we live in a age where we have the freedom and the right to speak up for any and all injustices. I’m quite aware that it doesn’t approach anywhere near the atrocities of that age. The principle is the same. Can you imagine how people back then would have also tied to encourage others not to say anything for fear of retribution? For fear they may lose their job and have less than before? Let the people stand up if they choose to protest and let’s not be among the naysayers and the conoscenti.
I would disagree with that to the point of many drivers fear being deactivated. There has also been numerous accounts of people missing ride payouts on their statements. One could say it is a glitch. One could also say that if they erase millions of rides by eliminating one payout across the country, that could translate to many millions of dollars.
I love your passion, but you’re wrong. Both companies sell the job as a product and we buy it. In that, some advertisement created by the company states drivers should make an average of $20/hour. Anything below minimum wage is not really acceptable considering what we are doing and are risking. The companies are making a killing on our liabilities. So, sorry buddy, but you’re wrong on this one. It is totally acceptable to negotiate instead of bending over and taking it up the ass.
I make 30 an hour on average with lyft.
And by law, to advertise that drivers can make X amount of money only one driver needs to make that much.
There are plenty of drivers make 20+
And most importantly, no one is making you drive. If you do not like it, do something else.
Both platforms say they will pay you X amount per mile and Y amount per minute to drive. As long as they do that, they are delivering on their promise.
There is no bs. It’s straight forward. They pay you per mile and per minute.
You either agree to do it or you don’t. Simple as that.
Yeah you got a lot of small trips. Because you did 156 trips you should make more like $2500 cause with 65 trips I have $858 so if you worked smarter you may make more then $1805.
Lol. This doesn’t count the 300 cash tips and 400 in kick backs I made on top.
This post isn’t about money. It’s about entitled people not understanding how the world works.
1805 PLUS 300 in cash tips AND 400 in kick backs making a grand total of 2500 dollars.
Divided by 156 rides is 16 dollars a ride.
What kind of idiot takes tips out?
If you’re doing a forecast, sure, but this isn’t a forecast. This is actually what I made that week.
But even with your retarded math skills, how many jobs out there pay 1600 a week?
if you’re referring to the amount of hours, I don’t normally work that much and when I do it’s once a month. I’ve barely driven in the last couple months because I’ve started my own business.
Lyft and Uber are side gigs. No one should be depending on them long term. I used rideshare to transition from union construction to my own business.
No but I get them wholesale.
I have almost 3 years and 6600 rides into rideshare.
I have done one set of brake pads, a battery, and 2 tires in maintenance beside oil changes. My car does 12k miles between oil changes so I’m still doing 4 oil changes a year like most people but I get my oil cheap.
This all day long! Work your ass off and get some education or a technical skill. Nobody owes you anything. If you don’t like it, go live in Venezuela… I hear they are a socialist country if you are looking for free shit… Although, I don’t think that’s working out well for them. MAGA!!!
Not quite 60 hours. I turn the app on at my house and wait til I get the first ride. Some times it’s an hour a day.
Realistically that is 55 hours.
Also, I work in the Vegas market.
I got 300 in cash tips and 400 in kickbacks on top of the 1800.
That’s 45 an hour. 130k a year. More than double the median income for the country.
Doing a long week like this freed up the rest of my month to work on my business. Now I barely drive at all, 26 rides in all of November. Rideshare gave me the opportunity to take control of my finances and not have to work for anyone ever again.
Really? I thought about doing that, I’m just concerned that the 5 minutes it will take me to leave my apartment and get into my car might lead to cancellations. The Vegas market must be fantastic, except for the strip which is always congested.
I’ve heard of the kickbacks, but haven’t your passengers already chosen a destination? Or do you convince them to change their destination? One more question, when do you get the kickback? As soon as you drop your customer, you get out of the car and collect?
Yeah it’s a little weird.
People tend to have a destination in mind when they request. But sometimes they ask about strip clubs and weed stores.
We have people from all over the world come here. They don’t all know that we have legal weed. So if you bring it up, sometimes they ask to go get some.
the strip clubs offer free rides in a limo or bus.
They have to pay those drivers. So they build transportation into their prices and pay us that money if we bring them.
There’s a few other kickbacks out there as well. But it’s always nice to get a few hundred extra bucks a week from just doing your job.
Someone else was talking shit because of so many short rides.
What they don’t know is, every ride is a new opportunity to get a tip and a kickback.
I’ve gotten 200 dollar tips. 50s, 20s, 10s, 5s. All of it adds up quick.
I usually eat and gas up off my cash tips alone.
So when I only did rideshare, I would do one long week, and 3 short weeks.
The long week knocked out my bills. And the short weeks gave me enough for my business venture.
