HR News Update: Ex-Grubhub Lead Is Now Part Of Ford

From Grubhub to Ford? It’s cool, right? Well, a former executive of Grubhub has been hired as the executive director of corporate communications of Ford. Yes, the car company. Goodbye, Grubhub, and hello, Ford!

David Tovar, everyone!

He’s David Tovar, who has responded to questions from ridesharing media and Ridesharing Forum, has worked with various big companies, not just Grubhub, but also McDonald’s, Sprint, Walmart, and Kraft Foods.

Tovar graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

He was McDonald’s chief corporate relations officer, led Sprint’s communications, and worked as Walmart’s communications deputy for eight years.

Recently, Tovar was hired by Ford Motor Company as the executive director of corporate communications. He will start his role soon, reporting to the chief communications officer. He is replacing TR Reid, who retired from working at Ford last year.

“I couldn’t be more excited to begin my journey at Ford," Tovar told Ridesharing Forum. “To be a part of a company with a 122-year legacy of shaping the world, and is now in the midst of an historic transformation is an incredible opportunity.”

His job description at Ford includes overseeing the communications for finance, government affairs, Ford Credit, and community relations. He will also be responsible for the protection and enhancement of the corporate relations of Ford and sharing the company’s corporate narrative for financial media, investors, and policymakers to advance plans.

His legacy at Grubhub

He has quite a stunning legacy at Grubhub. With the company, he led all aspects of corporate affairs, which include external and employee communications, goverment relations, charitable giving and volunteerism, community relations, and other initiatives.

He also became witness to Wonder acquiring Grubhub from JustEatTakeaway.com later last year.

As he joins Ford, he will be chancing upon the company with a reported revenue of $502.2 billion, two percent up from last year. Ford’s net income was $1.8 billion a year ago.

At Grubhub, he has been senior deputy for communications and relations with authorities since 2021. He said he is looking forward to helping shape Ford’s iconic brand and its next chapter.
