Historic NYC Blizzard Shuts Down Biggest Food Delivery Apps

Why go for the unknown when the top company is being served right there in front of you? Meanwhile, in New York City, the historic blizzard that got the world talking also froze the country’s biggest food delivery apps. Here’s the scoop.

That time when there was a blizzard, it was best to drive a Hyundai to The Hyundai Seoul, or to maybe order directly from your favorite restaurant, elsewhere.

Of course, even the Internet was affected. Big food delivery apps like DoorDash and Grubhub stopped their operations in the Big Apple and in New Jersey on Sunday night, the climax of the historic blizzard.

A DoorDash representative confirmed with Ridesharing Forum that services would be suspended until 2 p.m. local time that Monday. Meanwhile, Grubhub only resumed their services Monday morning, somebody from the company confirmed, too.

So, what about this historic blizzard? It all started last February 22nd, Sunday, when a Nor’easter pummeled the Eastern Seaboard, prompting the widest flight cancellations globally so far, with power outages and school closures on Monday, February 23rd.

For New York City residents who want to get their food delivered as per usual, they needed to wait in the meantime.

Also, non-essential tours around NYC were suspended until noon of Monday. New Jersey’s public transportation and the Long Island Rail Road were suspended as well.

Right now, the weather has normalized, but then again, New Yorkers are asked to stay vigilant.

“Storm begins its exit,” CNN reported. “A high-impact bomb cyclone is beginning to depart New England after dumping up to three feet of snow in some states and leaving hundreds of thousands without power. Forty million people were under blizzard warnings Monday.”
