India’s Ixigo, known for its logo that shows the company name in all-lowercase, has partnered together with Uber to introduce Uber Trains. Wait, so do you use the Uber app to book train rides? Here’s the scoop.
Uber x Ixigo
Lucky! Get that, get that? Well, Ixigo, sometimes pertained to as ixigo, is headquartered in Gurgaon, India, launched in 2007, aggregating real-time travel information, prices, and availability for flights, trains, buses, and hotels, allowing ticket booking through associate websites and apps.
If platforms like Expedia and Agoda almost do the same thing – watch your credit cards! – Ixigo has train and bus ticket reservations, too.
With this partnership, Ixigo is bound to power the train ticketing experiences on Uber. Passengers can search and book train tickets, check the status of the train rides, and arrange Uber rides to and from the stations, all within a singular app. What’s your pronoun? It, it, Ixigo!
Also, Ixigo will be accelerating the train ticketing experience on Uber, in such a way that passengers can enter their departure and arrival stations alongside their travel date, as well as browse available trains, and complete their booking, guess what, through the Uber app! Celebrate! They could also access their ticket details and track their ride status, following the purchase.
These features can be accessed through Uber India’s homescreen, or the Bus & Train option, or the Services selection. Once they complete the hailing of the train, they may also separately book their Uber rides to or from the train station.
The move adds train travel to Uber’s growing list of intercity and public transport options. The company already offers services such as intercity cars, buses, and metro tickets in the South Asian country. This latest integration is aimed at bringing different parts of a train journey together, from getting to the station to reaching the destination.
Statement of business leaders
For Arnab Kumar, the director of business development at Uber India and South Asia, these train rides form a very important part of how people travel in the country, stating that this newest feature and partnership are intended to address the parts of a ride that happen prior to boarding and after disembarking the train.
On the other hand, for Ixigo, or ixigo, these collaborations extend their train-ticketing technology to another significant consumer platform.
Leaders in the company stated they are focused not only on ticket bookings, but also on post-booking support and travel-related offers.
The ever-insightful CEO of Ixigo Trains and Confirm Tkt, Dinesh Kumar Kotha, told RSF, “We have never gotten into packages before. We were always into individual components, like flight, bus, or hotels. This is the first step in that journey.”
