“Worldwide” is not even a word to put it. Uber often implements brand-new ways to bolster autonomous mobility and delivery – and these ways go beyond imagination. Recently, Uber announced the launch of Uber Autonomous Solutions to keep aiming for this goal.
Uber Autonomous Solutions for the world’s number one ridesharing app is a comprehensive suite of distinctive services and capabilities that are designed to help partners build and commercialize autonomous vehicles successfully in several key markets across the globe.
The CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi, spoke about this newest feature, saying that autonomous technology holds a stunning, unbeatable potential to make transportation way safer and more affordable for consumers.
“Innovation in autonomy is moving quickly, but meaningful commercialization will take much longer. For more than a decade, Uber has helped set the standard for on-demand mobility and built the capabilities that make ‘push a button and get a ride’ work at a global scale. With Uber Autonomous Solutions, we’re externalizing these hard-won competencies for our partners,” Khosrowshahi further stated.
Uber Autonomous Solutions is organized into three main areas:
- Infrastructure solutions: Digital and physical foundations provided, which combine data, mapping, regulatory access, and financing to help Uber’s partners deploy autonomy in the smoothest way possible.
- User experience solutions: What is brand-new technology with difficulty in usage? This end-to-end user experience for AVs for full-scale adoption will help affiliates deliver the autonomous products needed by the customers.
- Fleet operations solutions: Successful autonomous commercialization will then require that AV fleets run at peak efficiencies. This utilizes depot tooling, AV-specific insurance, and real-time insights, keeping fleet operators better informed and on top of things. Thus, operations with fewer interruptions.
“AV tech teams should be able to focus on what they do best: building software that can safely power an autonomous world,” stated Sarfraz Maredia, Uber’s Global Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery. “Uber Autonomous Solutions is designed to complement their strengths by providing operational depth wherever they need it --whether that’s demand generation, rider experience, customer support, or managing the day-to-day realities of running a real-world fleet. When partners plug into Uber’s network, they can scale more efficiently, operate more reliably, and move faster.”
Furthermore, aside from gaining access to Uber’s leading demand marketplace, Uber Autonomous Solutions is also laid out to provide the abilities required for the most authentic end-to-end commercialization, reducing the cost per mile while boosting speed to market.
The company also brings comprehensive product development and support capabilities, designed to turn autonomous trips into more reliable trips for users and more economical for operators.
The challenge is to make this technology something that consumers will trust, everyday.
Started in 2010, Uber has this mission to gain access to rides at just a simple touch of a button. They have done billions of trips already, and are continuously building products to help people get to where they want to be, whether an individual who wants to visit a relative or somebody who wants to explore the city. By changing how people, food, and things move through cities, Uber is a platform that opens up the world to new possibilities.
