Grubhub has a heart of gold. This week, one of the world’s renowned food delivery apps has reiterated its commitment to keep helping drivers work with their co-drivers and diners connect with the restaurants they adore. Here is the scoop.
‘Meaningful support’
In a recent post on Grubhub’s official newsroom, the app started how delivery partners are the “backbone” of the business. They navigate traffic, weather, and unpredictable conditions – even dusts from nearby construction sites – just so they could support local restaurants and serve customers.
“They deserve meaningful support both on and off the road – whether that be through grant programs, expanding access to safe equipment, or financial planning resources,” Grubhub told Ridesharing Forum.
Therefore, the app is keeping the flame ablaze as they help drivers work on their teams and connect diners with their favorite restaurants. To implement this commitment, they guarantee they listen to feedback and ensure fairness, “so no one is penalized for doing their best under tough conditions.”
Unauthorized account sharing
However, despite the immense help that Grubhub drivers get from the app, there are still others who lodge attacks behind Grubhub’s back, such as falling into unauthorized account sharing. The app is trying to curb this once and for all.
“As part of our commitment to safety and platform integrity, we regularly monitor for unauthorized account sharing. A recent enforcement in New York led to the deactivation of some accounts, which understandably caused concern among drivers and driver advocates,” the food delivery app noted. “After meeting with a local driver advocacy group and listening to their feedback, we reviewed our protocols to improve transparency and fairness – ensuring drivers in good standing who want to deliver are able to do so.”
New changes
So, following various feedback from their delivery partners, Grubhub has introduced new changes and improvements in their operations. These include launching a countrywide appeals process, as well as a streamlined guide when there’s a need to challenge deacivations, available in multi-language formats.
There will also be an updated deactivation policy, appeals reviewed by audiences, a holistic review of driver performance, and clearer lines that separate minor issues and major ones, while considering tough external factors, such as weather and surprise disruptions.
So, what’s next for Grubhub, its drivers, and it customers? Well, from this day moving forward, it will be about:
- Continuing to engage with drivers and advocacy groups
- Partnering with institutions to help keep driver accounts secure
- Evolving the agreements with drivers
- Encouraging open communication
- Updating their policies
