Grubhub Poised To Launch The Largest Single-Site Robot Food Delivery Operation In The United States

To follow up on the previous reports on this by Ridesharing Forum, Grubhub is presently partnered with Avrid for food deliveries across campuses in the United States. Now, the number has significantly grown.

In fact, Grubhub is poised to launch and turn into a reality the biggest single-site robot food delivery operation in the country.

The operations are spanning over a whopping 40 campuses in the United States. And, thanks to Avride, the collaboration has already now completed over 100,000 autonomous deliveries at The Ohio State University’s Columbus campus. How about that? Imagine this.

Avride pertains to a company that takes charge of developing and operating autonomous vehicles, including self-driving cars and delivery robots. The company was formed by engineers from the former Yandex self-driving team and focuses on creating safer and more efficient automated transportation solutions for both passengers and goods. The company partners with others, such as Uber Eats and Grubhub, to deploy its autonomous vehicles for deliveries.

The Avride team is dedicated to the development of self-driving cars and autonomous delivery robots, slated to revolutionize the way transportation and logistics move in the country. It employs a slew of talented and dedicated engineers who have spent years in honing their skills and expertise in the field of autonomous cars, therefore pushing the boundaries of possibilities.

Avride’s vehicles are equipped with the following features:

  • Universal driver: Designed to operate under diverse conditions, from varying climates to the complexities of busy urban environments.
  • Multiple platforms: Multiple platforms mean more people could access the system.
  • Service-oriented: People enjoy the smooth ride of Avride’s robotaxis powered by their resident technologies.
  • Safer than human drivers: 360-degree views, experiencing spanning miles, and data that no human could achieve. Thus, safety guaranteed.

Founded in 1870, The Ohio State University is a public land-grant research university in Columbus in the Buckeye State.

“Our programme at OSU is the largest single-site robot food delivery operation in the US, and it’s been amazing to see students embrace this innovative, convenient way to get their favourite meals on campus,” Avride stated about this initiative. “Here’s to 100,000 deliveries (and counting!) - and to continuing to shape the future of delivery together with Avride and The Ohio State University. Every day, over 100 robots bring orders from the restaurants right to students across OSU.”
