Grubhub Parent Company Wonder Scales Mid-Atlantic Robots + The Partnership Together With Virginia’s Longwood University

Two news stories in this report for Grubhub. First, Wonder, its parent company, is staring to scale up mid-Atlantic Grubhub robotic deliveries. Second, the partnership anew with Longwood University in Virginia. Yes, for Grubhub! Here’s the scoop.

Longwood University x Grubhub

Longwood University is a public university in Farmville, Virginia, founded in 1839. Known for its liberal arts education, teacher preparation, and business programs, it competes in NCAA Division I athletics.

The University offers courses in Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, and so much more.

Believe it or not, Longwood University has partnered with Grubhub, bringing the past together with the future.

In an online conversation with Ridesharingforum.com, Bursar Kirsten Bowen of the University stated that in partnering with Grubhub, Longwood Dining “saw an opportunity to provide our students with technology that is already familiar and integrated into everyday lives.”

Bowen further noted that “this opportunity was presented to us near the end of last Academic Year and we wanted to move forward quickly so students could benefit from this service as soon as possible.”

Under this partnership, there will be a meal exchange. Longwood University students can decide whether or not they wish to use the meal exchange when selecting a restaurant, and they can settle payments through the app.

When they link their Lancer Cards, the official identification cards, students can use meal exchanges on their meal plan, earn Bonus Dollars, and even use them for Starbucks orders.

In addition to Meal Exchanges and Bonus Dollars, the University states that “students can use Grubhub with Lancer Cash and credit/debit cards, giving them flexibility in how they access campus dining.”

Pupils may also link their Lancer Cards via the app, use this as an option when ordering at campus staples, such as The Bodega, Farmgrill, or Panda Express, as well as those newer restaurants like Halal Shack and Damor Chai. Way to go!

Welcome these Mid-Atlantic robots for deliveries

In the East Coast and the mid-Atlantic, Grubhub’s parent company Wonder will roll out delivery robots.

In collaboration with Avride, which has a long-time and on-going tie-up with various food delivery app businesses, robotic deliveries across Jersey City, Hoboken, Arlington County, and Philadelphia will soon have robots plying the streets for deliveries.

“This expansion reflects our belief that the future of food delivery will be faster, more intelligent, and increasingly powered by technology,” stated PJ Poykayil, the deputy executive of customer delivery operations at Wonder. “As we scale our Jersey City pilot and expand to Hoboken, Arlington, and Philadelphia, we’re bringing autonomous delivery to more merchants on the Grubhub marketplace – unlocking new efficiencies while creating a more seamless experience for customers.”
