Grubhub Now Viral On TikTok! Delivery Robot Run By Campus Car

It’s weird for a trivial thing like this to make it viral on TikTok, but it did, for a reason or another. A Grubhub delivery vehicle was run by a campus car in Louisiana, and people are saying, “I just witnessed a murder!” Here is the scoop.

Collision

A video shared by @im_bored.inc on TikTok showed how a tiny Grubhub delivery vehicle was crossing the street when it was hit by what appears to be a campus car. It’s like the “Toy Story” toys crossing the street in the movie, so thrilling to see.

But maybe not for this incident. The caption was speechless, except for the words, “Replying to (emojis).”

University of Louisiana at Lafayette students witnessed this unusual campus accident recently when the Grubhub delivery robot collided with the university van.

As of the time of research, the video has already racked up more than 20,000 views, and there are thousands of favorites and comments, as of press time.

Poor delivery robot. Off-camera, a person was heard saying, “I just witnessed a murder.”

The comments section went ablaze with various reactions. One user quipped, “There goes my Chick-fil-A,” while another individual stated, “THE UL VEHICLES ARE ALWAYS RUNNING PEOPLE OVER.”

Others found humor and blessing in disguise in the fact that it wasn’t just any van, but a university-owned vehicle, going around on the irony of it all.

“The fact that it’s a ULL campus faculty truck makes it even funnier,” they noted.

“I think that was my food… because it took a minute to get here,” a student TikToker commented.

Another commented, “I hear you get free tuition if this happens!”

“This would have done numbers on Vine,” commented another user.

Grubhub delivery robots

Grubhub delivery robots may be taking over the jobs of human delivery staff, but they’re here to stay.

“Food delivery robots are the latest innovation in the restaurant industry. These fully autonomous, compact devices roll around hotels/resorts, cities, and college campuses, providing secure, contactless food delivery,” Grubhub official stated. “If your dining operation is looking for ways to reduce or reallocate labor – and delight customers in the process – robot delivery could be the ideal solution.”

Basically, these are small, autonomous vehicles and equipment primarily used around college campuses in select locations in the United States and some, elsewhere, to deliver food from on-campus dining locations.

Such vehicles are partnered with companies, using GPS, sensors, and cameras to navigate sidewalks and pedestrian areas safely.

Customers order via the Grubhub app and the robot distributes the food to the designated drop-off spots, which the student then unlocks using the app to retrieve their order.

Sure, the video is sparking laughter, but this viral video, thank you to it, only implies the negative effects of adding robots to real-world traffic. It shows the reality that in self-checkouts and autonomous delivery services, technology is still learning and on its way to sharing spaces with humans, without dying.
