Grab Singapore’s Delivery Rider Gets Suspended Over Dragging Jollibee Food On Suntec City Flooring

A Grab delivery rider in Singapore went viral after being caught on camera dragging food along the floor on his way to the car park from the restaurant. Was it because of the food, or was it something else? Now, this Grab Singapore driver has already been suspended.

A netizen caught the delivery rider on camera, showing how the Grab driver was told to deliver bulk orders, perhaps for 30 to 40 people, from this site’s estimate, mentioning that “it was a lot to carry.”

But, instead of making two trips going back and forth from the restaurant to the car park, he chose to drag the food orders on the floor.

That happened along the flooring of Suntec City, one of the star establishments in Singapore. The Grab driver was bent over while holding onto three plastic bags filled with orders from Jollibee, two massive plastic bags with 1.5-liter bottles of Coca-Cola, even.

The photos went viral over on social media, and the rest of the other netizens were quick to react.

Some shared sentiments with the uploader, saying the driver could have just rejected the order if he couldn’t handle it following sanitary practices. Another quipped that Grab delivery riders should use trolleys in those cases.

Interestingly enough, several were sympathetic toward the rider’s situation. Some said the rider might have been fearful that the plastic bags would tear down, since if he’d carried them normally, the bag’s base might have torn.

The orders were with Jollibee, the leading fast-food chain in the Philippines with a global presence. Plastic bags from Philippine restaurants are not the strongest, compared with other countries.

Sometimes, customers may also need to use Grab Food’s specific requests section when they know they’ve ordered a lot.

Others went on to blame the uploader, who they said should have helped the rider instead of filming him to get viral.

"I get that it’s not a nice thing to see, but do we have to film and get people sacked?” they pointed out.

This has always been a disease among people nowadays. For the weirdest reasons, if they see a Karen around, they will film them in the hopes they get reprimanded on social media. For instance, someone complaining at Starbucks, creating a scene.

For other netizens, it could also be Jollibee’s fault, which failed to provide its assistance in these situations.

Lastly, there’s this group of netizens who say there’s nothing wrong with the orders being dragged, given they are inside bags that won’t get contaminated. But still, others believe it would be very unhygienic.

Grab has already temporarily suspended the delivery staff for breaching the code of conduct.
