There are now more reasons to book with Grab, whether it’s your favorite food or a ride to your favorite destinations since new solutions and features are revealed at the historic company-wide event this week.
Last Tuesday, Grab held its first-ever product event, aptly titled “GrabX,” which basically showcased new features to tackle different market segments – teenagers, random people, and, interestingly, “tables.”
That’s right and while the idea of the event’s organizers to put GrabX in almost the same vibe, if not exactly the same vibe, as the presentation events of tech giants like Google and Apple wherein the company’s execs stand on stage and talk about things in front of the huge backdrop projection of what they’re discussing, it was a success, nonetheless.
The inaugural product showcase had Grab unveiling a new set of innovations designed “For Every You.”
“Grab understands that life is multifaceted, and so are our users. As you put on different hats throughout the day, for the different roles you juggle in life, your needs vary from moment to moment,” the company said in its official release.
Here are some of the new feature rollouts:
- Grab for Family | Teens: A safe and reliable way for teenagers 13 to 17 years old to travel independently whilst giving parents and guardians peace of mind. Sadly, this is only the answer to Uber’s services for teens, which the platform has going on for quite some time already.
- Grab for seamless gatherings: Grab is making it even more possible to enjoy food and treats during special occasions like Holi, Chinese New Year, Ramadan, Tết, and Christmas.
- GrabFood for One: GrabFood is very useful when a group of office workers want to order lunch or when you want a delicious restaurant-prepared dinner for your family. However, not too much for solo orders. Now, with this feature, you can order meals just for yourself with no minimum spend and at a minimal delivery fee.
- Shared Saver: Also related to the previous feature discussed, this is all about ordering smaller items like cold coffee or a cup of bubble tea, but you feel doubtful of proceeding because it’s just a small amount. Now, with Share Saver, you can confidently get these items since you can order them with a random stranger, just like joiners on a trip. This way, you share the fees, except the price of your food, of course.
Then there are also new features for travelers, such as:
- Advance Booking (Airport Pickup), a feature that offers a reliable and predictable service that adjusts dynamically to your flight status
- Dine Out Discovery, powered by GrabMaps to make it easier and more intuitive for you to discover dining options and deals around
- Grab TravelPass that works like Hong Kong’s Octopus Card for seamless moving around while at a foreign nation
They also added how these latest products and features mark a shift in the way they seek to serve their consumers when it comes to their daily needs. The company stated how it dived deeper “into what matters to you” on an everyday basis.
Grab has created “new ways for you to discover, explore, and connect with the people and world around you” while leveraging both the scale and strength of our ecosystem, as well as the latest artificial intelligence technologies.
“GrabX demonstrates our commitment to harnessing the latest technologies to build solutions that address real problems and serve real needs, for everyday people. These features have been designed with a philosophy we call AI-First with Heart – that puts AI at the core of how we work and what we build, without ever losing sight of who we’re building for,” stated Grab’s co-founder and CEO Anthony Tan.
