Answer. Do you want the passenger to fuck up and scratch your car or trunk ?
like i said several times. it is a van. i have a bumper cover on it.
also i may get an airport ride maybe once every hundred or so.
Isn’t it also ironic that the ones who least offer to help with bags are the same ones who go out of their way to plaster tip and star reminder signs to riders?
I keep telling people you only get out of it what you put into it. I make about half my rides give me tips either cash or on the app. I’m kind I’m courteous I when I pull up in somebody’s driveway to drop them off I make sure they get in their house. If somebody’s got groceries I help them unload them really I just want to get the hell away from faster but anyway that’s my problem. People getting my car grumpy that usually get out of my car laughing. If they don’t they got a serious problem. The people that complain about not getting tips or the one that does the least. Common human courtesy goes a long way
my condiments exactly (sentiments lol)! I would rather over extend my courtesy, than under extend my services. Ancient and as corny, as it may sound… “Everybody has their day, but if for a minute or two, I can help them smile, I’ve accomplished my day” is my approach. On a fairly slow day of about 6 1/2 online hours, about 3 1/2 hours total drive time, and $139.18. That includes $39.00 in-app tips. 39℅ that’s huge, for just being nice. No puke, no fights, no scams. I also had a really hard Hoverboard fall 5 weeks ago, (split rotator cuff), and I refuse to let someone, anyone put their own luggage, in or out, of my cargo area in the SUV. The more affluent the rider, the less careful they are btw. The ones that SCRATCHED my bumper in the Benz I used to drive (when I first started and read that we are only drivers) 3 different times first 500 or so rides, were all rich as hell! One even said, “aaah, that’ll buff right out, no problem”. I was shocked, as I was getting his other bag when he reached over and just jerked his out, not rude, just assertive. Not a tip at all btw. Said… “Don’t worry, I’ll tip you on the app”… Bahahaha… The start of something special! Lol
I kind of retract what I say on my statement earlier if it’s somebody that’s older I will help them. Just out of respect for their age. If somebody’s handicap I will help them. An able-bodied person does not need my help. and I’m not trying to hurt myself picking up somebody else’s possessions. If something happened to their bag or suitcase or whatever I’m going to get the blame sorry it’s your possessions you touch them I don’t. I will help somebody with their groceries because it can be tedious… however nobody is going to pay me any medical if I get hurt. Sitting in that car with back problems that ain’t no fun to be in that car for that many hours if you’re uncomfortable I’m sorry but if you perfectly capable of walking all the way down to the pickup zone you can put your little suitcase in the trunk by yourself and take it out by yourself. However I still get a tip because of the way I talk to them and treat them when they’re in the car and the respect they receive otherwise
I agree. Its funny when you have petite gals with huge luggage and expect you to also load their bag inside the trunk…why in the world would you pack your luggage as if your packing for 10 if you barely weigh as much as the luggage you are travelling with?
Why would you knowingly work the airport and not want to get out and load luggage?
I’m convinced that you are just entertaining yourself online with this question! I must admit, I wish I had thought of it.
The reason I asked is I was doing that and a rider and his wife were very rude to me I almost cancelled their buts right then I thought maybe they had a bad flight or were arguing and once the trip started they were fine that’s all
I use to do all of it, from putting luggage in the car to getting out and opening doors, having candy and water available and anything else to insure a perfect ride but most customers don’t appreciate the kindness because they feel like everything is inclusive. I ride lyft all the time and I tip accordingly because I appreciate the extra efforts which I know are not free. I’ll stick with just giving a pleasant safe ride and also I try not to get out of my car much because that’s an easy car jacking tactic. I do very well with just dripping off and picking up.
I don’t do airports. Any other luggage they put in due to my disability. I also check car when they put and take bags out. Any damage I would take photo and submit damage report. Uber won’t pay, will give me documented proof to be able to decline riders with luggage
I don’t worry about the damage because uber and lyft says anything that happens inside your trunk is internal and they are not responsible. I had my net in my trunk replaced twice and it’s not cheap so I decide if I want to allow customers to use my trunk. Uber and lyft will only take responsibility for very few things and extra large wheel chair isn’t one of them😡
If you don’t want them slamming your trunk or scratching the car it is
Then they went cheap and bought one of the sticker based ones.
A good bumper guard replaces the cheap factory painted one with a heavy duty one that looks factory made and they cost around $500-$1000 installed.
I learned years ago that this a critical upgrade to your vehicle if you want it to look good 10 years later.
The cost of about $150. Big bulk of plastic Wrapping from outside of the trunk and going around the bumper. definitely very efficient though.
I guess if you put it that way…i do recall that the other day i notice the device used to retrack the back seats down was dangling in the trunk…good thing I was able to repair it myself. The least I should do is get out the car and offer assistance to load up my trunk … I’m also thinking it would be appropriate to also slap a PLEASE BE GENTLE WHEN LOADING TRUNK label in the trunk so that it gets their attention.
