Eh, Ridesharing Forum previously reported recommended recipes from your grocery shopping through AI, or a cart assistant that’s completely managed by AI. This time, in a landmark breakthrough, Google Gemini, the AI chat platform of the number one search engine, can now book your ridesharing rides, and order your dinner. How time flies fast!
Julian Chokkattu, correspondent for Wired, has the best way to summarize what this is all about: “You might be feeling déjà vu… Gemini can now book you an Uber or order a DoorDash meal on your phone… Starting with the Samsung Galaxy S26, Google’s Gemini can automate tasks in popular mobile apps. We got a live demo of the new feature in action.”
And, the rest is history. That means spending less time tinkering on your gadgets while thinking which food to order, or which type of ride to book.
Simply let Google Gemini know things like, “Order my usual from DoorDash,” whether it’s taco or Chinese food, or “Get me an Uber home,” and Gemini will open the app by itself in a secure window, automatically walk through the steps, and prepare the order or ride. So, it’s Gemini doing the heavy lifting for you.
Sit back and relax! Watch and track the events as they happen – if this amazes you – or take control, or let it finish the task. The only heavy lift you’ll do is when you’ll confirm the last step. And, voila. You’re done!
Aside from the fact it’s not yet available globally, there are limitations. This feature is only available for opt-in and is fully controlled by you. Unless you tell Gemini a prompt, it won’t sense you need a ride or food, of course.
Also, not every device or app supports it. Beta features often expand over time, but compatibility at launch, limited.
TechCrunch correspondent Sarah Perez surely won’t overthink, confirming that this feature is limited only to gadgets like Pixel 10, 10 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S26 series. Call those business partnerships and tie-ups.
Furthermore, future updates could broaden the things Google Gemini handles. Beyond asking for food and rides, scheduled tasks and broader agent features belong to Google’s longer roadmap for the assistant. Are those in the clear? In the clear, yet good. Ridesharing Forum thinks those are advantages. For more ridesharing and food delivery news, get that account on this website, and join the discussions!
