Nice combination, isn’t it? For today’s DoorDash report, there’s a good news, then there’s a viral news. Here’s the scoop.
Strengthening small independent retailers
While DoorDash inks a new deal that aims to strengthen small independent retailers nationwide, a DoorDash driver shares dismay over how much they just earned after working 12 hours straight. Let’s start with the first.
National Retail Solutions Inc. has partnered with the food delivery platform to leverage its retail APIs in the hopes this would strengthen small and starting retailers across the country.
The company provides point-of-sale services, particularly offering touchscreen POS systems.
Specifically, the mission of this partnership is to empower local businesses and strengthen communities via technological advancements and support.
Elie Katz, the CEO and president of National Retail Solutions, told Ridesharing Forum, "Local communities are the soul of America, and the local businesses that support them are the beating heart. This important partnership allows those businesses to thrive in the face of uncertainty, ensuring local communities flourish.”
Way to go, USA! Under this partnership, tools to manage online ordering capabilities will get managed, thank you to a centralized automated order management platform right from a POS or Merchant Portal.
Every order will be aggregated into the order management platform, then prepared for fulfillment. That means store owners and their workers could be able to maximize their operational efficiencies.
“Our partnership with DoorDash has been incredibly beneficial,” one of NRS’ senior executives for eCommerce, Ari B. Korman, spoke with ridesharing media. “Together, we’re simplifying the operational challenges faced by small, independent merchants in today’s dynamic digital environment.”
However, only liquor retailers would be able to see the partnership coming into fruition for now. Yet, this deal will expand, with the goal to bring benefits to a broader range of retailers someday in the future.
Driver goes viral after revealing earnings following 12-hour shift
Talk about shifts, a DoorDash driver took to online social networks to air their grievance after saying they only earned as much as around $200 after a grueling 12-hour shift. Whoa!
The driver, who goes by the name @spencerjoycesworld on TikTok, shared he has started accepting orders as early as 8 a.m. that day.
"I just accepted every single DoorDash order for 12 hours straight,” he pointed out. “It started around 8 a.m. and ended around 9:15 p.m. On a Monday, in the Virginia Beach area, I was dashing for about 12 hours and 10 minutes. I was active for nine hours and 56 minutes, I put 221 miles on my 2009 Subaru Forester.”
He took 30 minutes of break from time to time.
"My earnings before taxes, wear and tear, gas, insurance, [and others] were $215,” he added. "My biggest tip was $14.25 from a food line grocery order, and my smallest tip was $3 from a Starbucks order.
TikTokers were shocked about his revelation, saying, “Working this much for $215 is insane.”
"I’m tired as hell and my car needs a tune-up badly now,” the driver kept saying.
