The holiday shopping rush is so inevitable. Even if the shopping for eCommerce like Amazon happens online, the bottlenecks are upon the deliveries.
So, to anticipate the rush, Amazon in Australia is feeling wealthy than most other Amazon divisions now that they are hiring and onboarding 3,000 seasonal workers across its fulfillment centers and delivery stations ahead of the festive season. Plus, more opportunities await.
The roles
If you are willing to apply and get hired, the job description involves picking, packing, and shipping customer orders in the lead-up to the upcoming big events, including Prime Big Deal Days and Black Friday.
Applicants around Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Brisbane, Newcastle, Gold Coast, Gosford, and Geelong are welcome to apply, even if they don’t have previous experience.
“There is no previous experience required as we provide on-the-job training, so whether you’re a university student looking to earn during study break, a retiree eager to stay connected, or anyone in between, these seasonal roles offer a way to earn some money in a positive and safe environment,” stated Amazon Australia Senior HR Manager Michelle Theophilou.
She added that those looking to gain experience are also welcome to apply.
Where the jobs are
However, the number of jobs depends on the location.
New South Wales accounts for the biggest share of the seasonal intake, with around 1,900 job opportunities.
This is followed by Victoria with over 600 roles, Queensland with more than 300 roles, then Western Australia with roles close to 200.
Previous Amazon Australia seasonal workers can attest to this opportunity, such as Dalma Cabrera, a former seasonal worker and now, get this, an Amazon associate.

I now help train new starters and support them as they begin their journey at Amazon. It’s rewarding to see people I trained years ago still working here and succeeding in their roles,” she pointed out.
Opportunities await
Once interested employees become a part of this, Amazon Australis is also offering on-site skills training and paid tuition through its Amazon Career Choice program, providing prepaid education and skills training to employees.
Amazon Australia frames this initiative as a potential entry point to longer-term employment for the workers. Permanent roles come with benefits, too, such as subsidized health insurance for their family, free life insurance, and up to 20 weeks of parental leave differential pay for full-time associates.
