A whirlwind – this is where DoorDash is this week. There are some good news, and also some bad news for this popular food delivery app. Read on for the scoop.
Good news: Celebrating basketball fan moments
Let’s start with the good news. DoorDash has just launched a new campaign that celebrates the love for basketball in a unique way. The stars are the fans this time, not the hoops players.
Ridesharing media are going crazy about this. The campaign is named “In Your Bag,” a high-energy project that celebrates the thrill of a hoops game, and the fans that make those games possible. But, this time, the fans are in the middle of the action.
This brand-new spot is directed and produced by the best of the best in the industry, blending pop culture with stylized storytelling that brings highlights from the NBA in a rewarding and unforgettable way.
The DoorDash campaign stars basketball athlete Paige Bueckers from the Dallas Wings of the Women’s National Basketball Association. Sadly, it may have failed to shoot it to the hearts of the fans as they’d expect the star to be from the NBA, not the WNBA, since it’s an NBA campaign.
However, the creative team explains, “There’s such a powerful crossover between basketball culture, personal style, and this campaign let us play with that intersection. Paige brought so much energy to the shoot, and the DoorDash team gave us the freedom to make something bold and fun.”
The campaign was unveiled just in time with the start of the 2025-2026 NBA season. The set of detrifying matches started last October 21st, and will end this April 12th, 2026.
This new campaign promotes DoorDash’s affiliated offer, giving members the chance to win each time an NBA player scores over 50 points in a match. For DashPass members, they could enjoy up to 50 percent off, and even compete for freebies, which include exclusive gear and fashion items. So, it’s also interactive.
Bad news: DoorDash sued for illegal selling
It’s okay to sell over the Internet, but if the selling is illegal, auto-pass. A multi-state marijuana company has sued DoorDash, alongside other business for the alleged violation of hemp laws and regulations in Virginia. The complaint is saying that these firms marketed cannabis products that exceed the legal THC limit. This threshold is part of the law to ensure safety of use for consumers.
The company, Jushi Holdings Inc. subsidiary Dalitso LLC, claimed that the firms being accused engaged in a “deliberate and coordinated scheme to erode Virginia’s heavily regulated medical cannabis market.” They alleged that they sold intoxicating cannabinoid products that broke the laws of the state.
“Disguised as lawful ‘hemp,’ these products are, in reality, potent and dangerous forms of marijuana, offered without the mandatory safeguards, testing, or oversight that the Commonwealth imposes on licensed cannabis operators such as Plaintiff,” the complaint said. “Through this deception, Defendants have flooded Virginia’s marketplace with unregulated and illegal cannabis products, exploiting consumer confusion and contravening Virginia’s state statutes to gain an unlawful competitive advantage.”
