Found cell in my vehicle and handed it to the nearest police station

I’m not about that lost crap issue. As my pax get out, I treat them just like teenagers… “you have your bag, trash, cell phone, charger, keys, everything??? Cool, have a good day”

I do this too lol its actually an old habit of mine bc i used to bring my ex fiance home to his parents house everynight

Uber gave my number out once. This girl said she left a coat in my car. There was no coat but this passenger called me no less than 5 times a day. I couldn’t believe they gave her my phone number.

what happens is they’re allowed to contact through the voiceover number that when it goes to your voicemail it will often give out your phone number to which they record and recall many times.

I say that to every pax…then found a wallet the other night. Called uber to report the wallet I found. Returned it Wednesday…got my 15.00 return fee plus 10.00 tip

make sure your voicemail doesn’t give out your phone number. You can just say hey this is Allison leave a message or whatever else.

That’s messed up. Why in the hell wouldn’t you do the RESPECTFUL thing and turn it in to a hub?!?! Why did you take it to the police station when the rider did nothing wrong to you?!

You cannot be mad that people wouldn’t handle something the way you would. You are awesome for wanting to help out. But we have busy lives and it’s not our fault that you forgot something because you were being careless

the right thing! These idiots leave their personal property behind it’s not your responsibility to take time out of your day to return it to them. Your time is worth more than $15. Let them deal with it at the Sheriff’s Office and maybe they’ll learn not to do it again. Don’t listen to any of the haters on here.

Both my husband and I have an app called “wheres my droid” it can locate your phone down to about 5 ft. Will set off an alarm on you phone and also reset your phone if you sent out the right texts to the number belonging to the phone.

I contact Uber when I discover anything left behind. If arrangements can’t be for a safe return while I’m on shift or they or I have left the region, I’ll slip it into my airport safety inspections X-Ray bag before I return home and begin to deal with the matter the next day.
Throughout the years I’ve shipped all manor of items completely across the globe… the Police station is a very good alternative!:+1:

Here is what I now do. If you find a lost phone, dont drive anywhere near your home. Drive far away and toss it into a lake or river. Screw the $15

If you’re not going to return the phone right away, either to the pax, or the Greenlight Hub, or to a law enforcement station you should wrap the phone completely in a couple of layers of aluminum foil, or a Faraday bag which will totally inhibit any electronic signals from getting in to the phone or out of the phone and thus leaving the return entirely up to you.

And BTW, the iPhones and later model Android will continue to send the “Find Me” signal even when they are turned off or when the battery is apparently dead

it’s thats not true. You can look it up but Apple to verify. The only thing they can do is looking at history at the last known location. So they can get information on the last location that’s it. It cannot track the location once it is off or the battery is dead. 100% fact please check the Apple website

Police station is for if a rider is trying to kill you! Etc. Even then I would call Uber about that, if I’m still alive that is! :joy:

I always just return it to where I dropped the passenger. Usually a nice tip in it. Plus if I lost mine please bring it back ASAP, I’ll reward if possible. NVR had a fear of someone knocking on my door. Why not turn it off then back on when you out and about. The passenger will call eventually. Taking it to police station turned off untrackable just a dick move.

I’m not a troll but thanks for your compliment! I’m just stating facts, and all of a sudden you call me a troll! Hmm??🤦

Some people are so extra that’s a old ass samsung like really man you could have just contacted uber or lyft and been dun with it now u just make it harder for them to get there phone back

Paranoid level is at 100 :man_facepalming:t3:. I’ve kept the phone while I continue driving then when they call I answer and drop it off for them. I work in a mid-size city.

Customer leaves item in car. Uber connects them to me through exchange routing. They ask if I can go to their house and return item. I explain to them that this is a business. I say when I am finished with my shift I will contact them & let them know where I am. Then I will look up on the Uber app how much it cost to get from where I am to their house & back. If they agree to pay the fare I proceed. If not I contact Uber & fed ex the item back to them & they have to deal with getting the item back from Uber. Only 1 person argued over that procedure. Most understand & are thankful you actually have their belongings. Pax paid me $150 one time to drive from OC to Riverside to return his phone. That’s how you handle it.
