'Coz, it’s like those news you see from influencer news outlets! But their fans are thanking the stars. Let us begin with the basics. Millennials, your dad, your mom, your aunt, or your uncle know about these people, but perhaps if you’re born in the 2000s, you’re most probably listening to nursery rhymes rather than Diddy.
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson III, is a rapper, actor, TV producer, and businessman. He may have been raised in Queens, New York, but his upbringing was challenging. His works include the album Get Rich or Die Tryin’.
Ja Rule, who once performed at a Miss USA pageant – yes, that competition where Super Bowl star Christian McCaffrey’s wife Olivia Culpo took part several years ago – is also from Queens, New York (are the two childhood friends?), dominated the early 2000s hip-hop scene with his hits, such as “Always on Time” and “Mesmerize.” He was known for his gritty rap beats blended with melodic and pop-oriented rhythm-and-blues, earning several Grammy nominations and selling millions of records around the globe.
Then, there’s Diddy. P. Diddy, yes, you got it!
So, there’s this newest DoorDash ad featuring 50 Cent in a one-on-one-like interview, but poking jokes at his rivals in the world of rap, Diddy and Ja Rule.
On Thursday this week, the brand-new commercial circulated on social, titled “Beef 101,” wherein the New York-raised rapper recognizes his nickname as the “King of the Trolls.”
Then, he presents a red-colored DoorDash bag to unleash the content inside as he is full of conviction, saying he would never bring “beef” to a DoorDash commercial.
“I mean, who would do something like that?” he states in the commercial. “Delivering quality beef, it’s more of an art than science.”
Then, he pulls out a bag of cheese puffs – a message for his competitor, Diddy or Sean Combs, who is also pertained to as Puffy.
“Don’t be too obvious,” 50 Cent knows the script so well, in answer to Diddy’s controversial cases in his career.
Afterwhich, he pulls out some hair combs
“Oh, they sell combs,” the rapper quips, another blow for Diddy. “What a coincidence.”
The other item is this alarm clock, saying he’s always on time, a vivid reference to his long-time rap rival, Ja Rule, who has a 2001 hit “Always on Time.”
Speaking of time, DoorDash did a three-point shot with this, since almost nobody would notice 2000s stars, considering there’s now the likes of Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, and Kid Cudi.
Near the end, the last item is a Branson Cognac that ages for four years, or 50 months. As for the message, you’d better watch the ad, so you won’t get offended.
Simple, real behind-the-scenes, 50 Cent told Ridesharing Forum in a media talk, “I’ve always been about keeping it real, so when DoorDash approached me about a social campaign around beef, it felt authentic from the start. They’ve got everything you need, and just like with beef, the receipts speak for themselves.”
