Experience Meal Plans Curated To Your Tastes With Careem

Ever experienced ordering the food you prefer, though the taste isn’t right? Careem has the solution for you. This time, the super-app headquartered in the Middle East is getting new features ready, with one being that wherein you could come up with meal plans curated to your tastes.

When it comes to the cost, you also don’t need to worry about this. Among these features is the Meals:On, which ridesharing media have previously reported. This was initially rolled out in the United Arab Emirates capital, but now coming to Dubai, too.

Careem’s food app division, Jaskaran Singh, told Ridesharing Forum, “We’ve noticed there’s a lot of friction when trying to order food for a single person. When ordering for one, yes, there’s too much of choice and they often end up overpaying. Because they might be doing the ordering when busy at work. What we did is work is create (curated) meals from top restaurant brands at affordable rates.”

When it comes to the price, free deliveries are available when the order value is below the price the media has specified, which is the minimum order value on the Careem Plus membership.

The purpose of this new feature is for Careem to make the day-to-day living of several residents in the United Arab Emirates easier, especially that the food delivery space is getting overly competitive.

There’s also the AI-run grocery list preparing tool, so customers could simply translate written or typed grocery lists into “instant” online grocery orders. Or, customers could take photos or upload images of their grocery list, so the app could do the rest.

Users would also be selective with the restaurants it ties up with. Singh explained, “We actually curate the most popular restaurants and dishes as per the meal time. We know what you like, whether at breakfast, snack, lunch or at coffee. We take away the choice overload from you and we curate the food options. And the process becomes easier when the orders are repeated.”

Knowing what this Middle Eastern super-app could do, lots of data and number crunching went into putting together the Meals:On feature.

“When we looked at our lunch ordering plans, we saw about 64% of orders were for one person,” said Singh. "That was a big pain point (because many orders require a minimum price).”
