For instance, there’s corporate office worker, Kurt Leighton, who sometimes hails InDrive to save on driving his own car to work, who encountered a weird female driver.
He wanted to start a conversation, so he asked, “It’s rare to have a female driver. Why are you doing this?”
Instead of the usual answer to explain, the female inDrive driver bursted, saying, “It’s due to my husband! He abandoned me and his kids, so I have to be in this situation. I already sued him, and filed a case!”
Yes, that’s weird.
This time, there’s this woman in her me-time while on an UberX Share who was cornered with her driver with the question, “How much cheaper is this than a normal ride?”
The story
The passenger, also a TikToker named @swagmeister_007, posted a video about their interaction, saying, “Today I took an Uber Share home, and when we went to pick up the first co-rider, the Uber driver turned to me and was like, ‘You took Uber Share?’” she says what the driver says.
When she confirmed it, the driver then started asking, ”How much cheaper was it?”
She got shocked, not thinking she was going to be interrogated for this.
“Kidding, it wasn’t that serious!” she exclaimed.
She eventually shared the reality, but not merely to her driver, but to her followers, saying it was $8 cheaper, compared to the original $19, or sometimes, it could be $11. Really cheap, indeed.
There’s more to it than meets the eye
But, then, seriously, take a look at here. Even though she already revealed the costs, people are appalled that the driver would ask her that question. It’s like a salon stylist trying to imply how great a haircutter he or she is, that you should never pick another salon.
The netizens were saying, “He was trying to calculate how much Uber kept from your ride compared to what he got. Once I paid $72 for a solo ride, and the driver was only paid $11,” “Curiosity isn’t judgment, it’s often the opposite,” “I thought it’d be like two bucks cheaper, but $8 is actually a pretty big difference in prices. I might actually have to do that next time,” “I would do that,” and “No lie, that $8 is a whole ‘nother Uber ride.”
