DoorDash Welcomes Tim Castree - Formerly With Amazon - As New CMO

Some HR news for DoorDash this time. The world’s top food delivery app is celebrating as it has welcomed a former Amazon executive, Tim Castree, to its team as its new chief marketing officer.

Chief marketing officers are C-suite executives responsible for managing and overseeing a corporate’s marketing, advertising, and brand strategy. Their goal is to drive revenue growth, expand and diversify market share, and cultivate brand recognition through a comprehensive consumer-centric planning.

“Tim [is welcomed in] DoorDash at a moment when we are continuing to expand how customers engage with our platform beyond restaurants and food delivery. Throughout his career, Tim has helped global brands build deeper, broader relationships with customers by meeting them where they are in their brand journey, in ways that feel locally relevant and useful,” DoorDash pointed out in its official statement.

He replaces Kofi Amoo-Gottfried. Castree is from Amazon, where he served as deputy of EU Prime and marketing for the eCommerce giant. Prior to this, he oversaw paid media, then served as a senior advisor at Hawkfish, an advertising agency Mike Bloomberg founded to support its campaign for president in 2020.

In 2019, he spent a year as GroupM North America’s CEO. He also is expected to share his experiences with DoorDash from Leo Burnett Australia, MediaVest, and Wavemaker.

“Tim is a deeply customer-obsessed, naturally curious leader who brings a rare intellectual rigor to every dimension of marketing, from performance and data to brand building at global scale,” stated Prabir Adarkar, the president and the chief operating officer, or COO of DoorDash.

Amoo-Gottfried is also a marketing official at DoorDash. Prior to DoorDash, he was deputy of brand and consumer marketing at Facebook, having previously served as the company’s Head of Consumer Marketing for internet.org. Prior to Facebook, Amoo-Gottfried was the chief strategy officer at FCB New York, a highly awarded, full-service global advertising agency.

“What drew me to DoorDash is the mission. The idea that we live in service of local communities, local businesses, and local Dashers is a powerful, differentiated story to tell and an incredible platform to build from. I’m excited to help tell that story in ways that feel real and relevant to people wherever they are in our brand evolution, while continuing to broaden how customers think about what DoorDash can do for them," Castree, excited for his upcoming role, told Ridesharing Forum.
