Dunkin’, shoppin’, munchin’! Ridesharingforum.com was on the scene when Walmart became available on DoorDash and Uber Eats.
That time, Walmart stated, “This marks Walmart’s first restaurant integration within Express Delivery and reflects the company’s broader focus on helping customers simplify everyday life by bringing groceries, household essentials, fashion, prescriptions, and restaurant meals together in one convenient experience.”
But, this time, Walmart is zooming things in. And it is involving the world’s number one doughnut store, Dunkin’.
Walmart is soon bringing you your iced coffee and maple doughnut cravings from Dunkin’. Walmart last week announced it is delivering Dunkin’ items from its own stores, then expanding this over the next year, 2027, to include most of what’s on the doughnut chain’s catalog to around 10,000 locations in the USA, even those without Walmart stores. Whoa!
“We see this as a way to continue adding value and convenience for customers within a shopping experience they already know and trust. By pairing restaurant delivery with Walmart’s vast assortment, we can create a delivery experience that gives customers more of what they want in one place,” a Walmart spokesperson told RSF.
In other words, when you order your Iced Latte or Cinnamon Cruller, you can add these to your cart as you shop for toilet paper, mouthwash, socks, and those you need, since Walmart has been with DoorDash all along.
Hongseok Jang, an assistant professor of management science at Tulane University, who went curious about this partnership, stated that Walmart’s vast reservoir of built-in customers, stores, and existing logistics network is bound to make it a strong competitor to other food delivery companies.
The Walmart representative added that the Dunkin’ deliveries will run through Walmart Restaurant Delivery.
“To me, it seems that Walmart is testing its own delivery system to see if they can handle it, and if it is successful, there will be a big competition between Walmart, Uber Eats, and DoorDash,” Jang added.
That is, well, wonderful and excellent! Share your thoughts about this news by signing up and opening your account now on RSF.
