DoorDash’s Delivery Driver Caught On Camera Dropping Customer’s Food, Putting It Back In Box

Was the DoorDash delivery driver in the right mind and proper mindset when he decided to put the customer’s food back in the box after dropping it?

A family in Clay County in Florida is demanding charges from DoorDash after finding out this incident. Thanks to their Ring camera at the doorstep, they were able to catch the driver in the act.

In the video that ridesharing media has obtained, just as the delivery driver was taking out the food from the main delivery box, he accidentally dropped one food. It appears that the orders included a pizza. What was dropped appeared to be some sort of meat.

But, he placed it back in the box just like nothing happened, and even used the sole of his shoe to wipe away the mess seemingly. The last frame of the video showed him leaving the doorstep.

Safety is paramount for DoorDash, so whenever scenarios like this happen, it’s actually upon the driver, not DoorDash itself.

DoorDash makes use of several safety features to protect delivery drivers, the orders of the customers, and the customers themselves. These features include background checks, insurance, and a safety toolkit in the app, which includes real-time safety alerts, the SafeChat feature, and the SafeDash check-in feature.

“Safety is extremely important to us, which is why we continue to invest in products, policies, and partnerships that enable us to lead the industry while better serving all members of our community,” DoorDash stated in one of its official press releases. “We’re launching SafeDash: a new in-app toolkit powered by the security professionals at ADT…”

In addition, DoorDash also has protocols for severe weather, encouraging restaurants to maintain high food safety and hygiene standards. You can notice that several restaurants until today implement the safety seal, which was first implemented during the pandemic.

According to the World Health Organization, an estimated whopping 600 million or almost one in 10 people worldwide fall ill after eating or consuming contaminated food, with over 400,000 people dying every year due to this. Simply dropping food on the flooring, and even if put back after a few seconds could lead to food poisoning.

DoorDash is an on-demand food delivery app that connects customers with restaurants and independent drivers called Dashers. Customers place orders through the app or website, selecting meals, customizing items, and paying online. The restaurant prepares the food, while a nearby Dasher accepts the delivery request, picks up the order, and delivers it to the customer’s location.

Customers can track their orders in real-time, tip drivers, and rate their experience. DoorDash earns revenue through delivery fees, service fees, and commissions charged to partner restaurants.
