Recreational cannabis was recently legalized in Ohio and DoorDash is making sure you get every advantage from it. Ridesharing Forum has more. Read on.
Ordering CBD from home
Ordering cannabis products from home were previously almost impossible since they were not legal in Ohio. However, around only five months after recreational cannabis got legalized in this state, this means delivery platforms like DoorDash can now allow you to order them from home.
DoorDash recently announced it would offer hemp-derived products like tetrahydrocannabinol or THC and cannabidiol or CBD in chosen states, including Ohio, for consumers of legal age to get them straight at their doorsteps.
“DoorDash now offers hemp-derived THC and CBD products for on-demand delivery in select states, giving customers of legal age more products to enjoy while they relax and recharge,” the platform said in their official statement.
Cannabis is a plant containing over 80 chemical compounds, but the best known of them are THC and CBD.
CBD offers good health benefits such as pain relief, treating anxiety and depression, and treatment for seizures, cancer, gastrointenstinal disorders, and more. However, it is controversial because of its side effects, such as dizziness, decreased appetite, nausea, and fatigue, among others.
The legal battle of CBD so consumers can have them just as they can have regular medicines will soon end. In 2018, cannabis products were no longer classified as controlled substances. Thus, DoorDash is more confident to offer them from their platform. Included on the list are the gummy, drink, mint, chocolate, and honey stick variants.
Rules for ordering
Customers who are eligible to order – speaking of age – wil see a “CBD/THC” tab in the app, signified with an icon of a soda can and a tiny candy jar. Yes, you must be at least 18 years old to order CBD products from the platform and at least 21 to order THC products.
Just like ordering alcohol, ID verification is required before you can check out your desired CBD product. Your IDs will need to be submitted and scanned.
But the process does not end there. Before you can own your order, you must first complete a four-step compliance check, which includes the ID verification technology, physical ID check, and customer assessment to ensure you are not already intoxicated.
Outside Ohio
The availability of CBD products on DoorDash goes beyond just Ohio. They will also be available in six other states: Minnesota, Kentucky, Georgia, Iowa, Tennessee, and Louisiana. This is good news.
Participating merchants are DashMart – a fulfillment store and platform run by DoorDash, which offers businesses a brand-new channel to reach customers locally – ABC Fine Wine & Spirits and Total Wine & More, among others, which have been bringing you your favorite meals, snacks, and other essentials.
“With the growing demand for hemp-derived THC and CBD products, we’re excited to expand access to a wide selection of products consumers crave,” said DoorDash’s director for alcohol and emerging categories, Jacob Morello.
