DoorDash In Georgia: The Good, The Bad – Savings, Insurance For Drivers + Mystery Of Missing Driver?

DoorDash Georgia is making great strides lately, but for the good and for the bad. While the domineering food delivery and takeout platform has launched a program in this state promising savings and insurance benefits for drivers, a random DoorDash driver here has gone missing, but was later found in… a jail? Here’s the news round-up.

Savings, insurance for drivers

Ridesharing drivers can earn lots, for sure, but there are lacking aspects. For instances, in Georgia, DoorDash drivers do not have ready access to savings and insurance benefits. The dark days will soon be over.

DoorDash Georgia has announced a new pilot program launched this April that could provide its drivers with benefits and savings, including health insurance and paid time-off, as well as retirement funds. Cool.

“We’ve long believed that people who earn with DoorDash shouldn’t have to choose between the flexibility that draws them to this kind of work and having access to benefits that can support themselves and their family,” said Tony Xu, the chief executive officer and co-founder of DoorDash.

However, drivers must fulfill the requirements to be eligible. For instance, only those who make at least $1,000 in the first three months of the year can make it to the benefits. Another hurdle is that once they make that amount, they must first create a Stride Save account where they will place their DoorDash deposits. No, not a Bank of America account.

Once fulfilled, they will have four percent of their pre-tip earnings as their savings until July. They may also place external funds into their Stride Save account. It seems the stakes are high for the coveted prizes, huh.

“This pilot program provides just that, offering Dashers in Georgia meaningful support on what matters most to them, without coming at the expense of their independence,” continued Xu. “With this program, there is incredible potential to deliver real impact for thousands of Dashers in Georgia…”

Missing DoorDash driver found in jail

That news was publicized earlier today, but just a few hours after, another news is saying a DoorDash driver in this state has gone missing while he was making a delivery aboard his black 2013 Nissan Murano, Clayton County police officials reported.

Authorities have worked tirelessly to find him, only to see him in the weirdest of places: a jail in Atlanta. MSN News stated the driver, Floyd Davis, is being held in the Rockdale County Jail. Apparently, the police found out he had driving-related charges, so he was in the wrong after all.
