Quicker, more efficient, and more sustainable deliveries – after all, these are what you, the consumers, like, right?
Well, DoorDash is making that dream come true.
Ridesharing Forum has been part of this action, since day one, reporting milestones into the partnership between DoorDash and residential drone delivery platform, that is, Wing.
Previously, the team reported Wing and DoorDash in motion in San Francisco. DoorDash then collaborated with drone delivery company Wing to navigate the urban environment of the city with Wing’s drones, traversing skyscrapers, high winds, limited landing spaces, and other complicated challenges.
“This reflects a broader commitment to reinvesting in San Francisco’s innovation economy and creating pathways for local employment in emerging technologies,” the delivery app stated in the report.
This time, this strong partnership is expanding more than ever.
The eCommerce and delivery app, and the global leader in home drone deliveries recently announced the expansion of their partnership, but this time in Metro Atlanta – faster and more convenient.
“Metro Atlanta residents deserve an easy, ultra-fast way to enjoy their favorite meals at peak freshness,” stated Heather Rivera, Chief Business Officer at Wing. “Wing completes thousands of drone deliveries daily across major USA metros, and growing our DoorDash partnership helps us deliver that speed to even more local doorsteps.”
Only eligible DoorDash consumers, however, can qualify. Specifically, those near Tanger Outlets Locust Grove may order from various local and national restaurants, and prefer drone delivery. Once they do so, their cravings get delivered to them in less than 20 minutes. No more messages saying, “The rider will make three stops before they get to you.”
Right now, the confirmed official line-ups are Atlanta favorites such as Molinos Mexican Grill, Koji Japanese Steakhouse, and Sabrosos Mexican Restaurant. There are also discounts to have fun with.
“Autonomous delivery is an important part of how we’re making local commerce faster, more delightful, and more sustainable,” stated Harrison Shih, Head of the DoorDash Drone Program. “We’re excited to introduce drone delivery to metro Atlanta with Wing as we continue to expand our autonomous capabilities and bring new delivery options to DoorDash consumers. By bringing our Wing partnership to a new city, we’re helping local merchants reach more consumers while improving speed and reliability.”
This expansion in Metro Atlanta builds on the on-going formidable partnership between DoorDash and Wing. Since their team-up launched in 2022, the two have expanded their drone deliveries to parts of Southwest Virginia, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and the Charlotte region. Way to go!
For those who are newcomers to drone delivery, getting started is simple. Those who can will see a drone icon in the DoorDash app, wherein they can browse participating restaurants. If the items are qualified to be carried by the drone, the process goes on, such as being able to track their orders. You can check whether you are eligible for drone delivery or not, here. Usually, it’s not due to your house condition, or your credentials, but rather if you are within the delivery location.
This fruitful expansion reflects DoorDash’s broader strategy to construct a multi-modal network that includes Dashers, drones, and other autonomous solutions. For more delivery news, share this article around online with your family, friends, and other loved ones!
