DoorDash Expands Grocery Deliveries Across Canada

More grocery stores within Canada are coming to DoorDash!

DoorDash recently affiliated with the umbrella company of these grocery stores to expand its grocery delivery services in Canada.

It adds more than 1,000 stores across a whopping 10 Canadian provinces to the DoorDash marketplace! So, it’s really literally across Canada.

Mike Goldblatt, enterprise business development and partnerships deputy at DoorDash, stated, “As Canadians increasingly face time pressure, DoorDash is proud to help give some time back through on-demand grocery delivery – whether it’s a full weekly shop or just for tonight’s dinner. Together, we’re making everyday shopping more convenient and accessible.”

Specifically, 12 grocery banners from the umbrella firm, such as Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, FreshCo, Farm Boy, and Longo’s, as well as convenience options like Needs, Voison, and Boni-Soir, are going to be part of the DoorDash catalog.

Established in Nova Scotia, Sobeys is among Canada’s two national supermarket chains – not just stores, but chains – operating approximately 1,600 stores across all 10 provinces in this North American country.

Under Sobeys is FreshCo, a Canadian discount supermarket chain launched in 2010, operating over 140 stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario, providing budget-conscious shoppers with fresh produce, groceries, and multicultural foods.

Meanwhile, Farm Boy is another Canadian specialty grocery store chain based in Ontario, well-known for its farm-fresh produce, chef-prepared meals, artisan cheeses, and exclusive private-label products.

With these stories on board, DoorDash is now tied up with four of the five biggest grocery companies in Canada.

Customers can expect to find almost 10,000 items – yes, 10,000 items, and yes, for each store, including fresh produce, pantry staples, household essentials, and pharmacy items.

Then, you also have Boni-Soir, which is a chain of convenience stores located across the province of Québec, Canada, founded in the 1970s, while Needs is a chain of community grocery and convenience stores in Atlantic Canada, also owned by Sobeys.

Orders that you make via DoorDash from these grocery stores are delivered to you in under 60 minutes, across the five biggest cities in Canada.

Remember also that DoorDash has a relevant tie-up with food creator Sylvia Nguyen who developed three tasty weeknight recipes using ingredients from these stores she purchased through DoorDash. These recipes are designed to help consumers shop more innovatively, as well as simplify their meal planning.

Mohit Grover, the senior deputy of eCommerce in those grocery stores, added, “As digital grocery adoption continues to grow, partnerships with local commerce platforms like DoorDash allow us to extend the reach of our banners and better serve evolving consumer expectations.”

DoorDash is the world’s number one food delivery app, but it also offers grocery deliveries. It connects consumers, restaurants, grocery stores, and delivery drivers through its official mobile app and website.

These consumers browse nearby businesses, place orders, and transact digitally. Partner restaurants prepare the food while independent drivers, called Dashers, pick up and deliver orders.

DoorDash earns its profits through delivery fees, service fees, subscriptions, and commissions from merchants. It also offers real-time tracking, scheduled deliveries, promotions, and contactless delivery options for convenience and efficiency. Today is going to be a nice day!
