DoorDash only has few female drivers, but what’s bad is, some of them, are being beaten by people around her.
“I had multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds,” the DoorDash driver, a mother, Christen Phillips, told Ridesharingforum.com.
This mother of three from North Carolina is now recovering from several skull fractures and bleeding in the brain after a stranger, a man, followed her during one of her DoorDash deliveries, beating her with a baseball bat.
The 34-year-old mother was delivering an order in Jacksonville, North Carolina, around 1:20 a.m. last August 1st when she honked at a driver not moving after the traffic light went signaling, “Go!” at the intersection of Western Boulevard and Gum Branch Road, according to the Onslow Sheriff’s Office.
The car pulled away and started following her.
Phillips headed over to her drop-off point on Shamrock Drive, then completed the delivery.
Now, as she walked back to her car, like a perfect criminal moment, the driver confronted her and struck her in the head before fleeing on foot. Yikes!
Bleeding, she tried driving to a hospital nearby.
The investigators identified the suspect as 44-year-old Stanley Shockley, who coincidentally lives six hours from where the attack happened. Detectives and investigators were able to trace Shockley through surveillance footage from a gas station nearby. Prosecutors are saying she wiped his home security camera footage after the attack.
The assistant district attorney’s office also spoke for the mom, saying she thought she was left for dead.
“She felt she was left for dead at that time,” the attorney’s office stated.
Shockley was eventually arrested after detectives did a search warrant at his house and towed his black Range Rover, the car that was used to follow the woman.
He was charged with assault using a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, inflicting serious injuries. He is being held without bond.

DoorDash issued their official statement on this matter.
"What this Dasher went through is horrific, and we’re relieved she’s safe and on the road to recovery. We’re grateful to law enforcement for making an arrest and will continue to assist their investigation in any way we can,” the food delivery app noted. Thank you, DoorDash!
The sheriffs’ office will continue to work hard to resolve these incidents.
"We understand the public does not see what goes into every investigation and a case like this can make citizens uneasy. We appreciate the number of tips and leads the public provided us. Our detectives follow every lead, carefully work through the evidence, and continue to pursue answers even when the investigation presents challenges.
