DoorDash Donated $350,000 In Support Of Relief, Recovery Following Recent Texas Floods

Yes, that was a whopping $350,000, enough to buy you how many brand-new cars, right?

Earlier this month, a destructive and deadly flooding ravaged Texas Hill Country in Kerr County in Central Texas where water levels along the Guadalupe River rose rapidly. According to todays’ ridesharing media reports, the fate of dozens still remains “unkown,” and they “do not know how many lives were lost.” Oh no.

However, the media is certain that around 130 people were killed and around 100 unaccounted for in the aftermath of the floods. Oh no.

DoorDash is lending a hand. The world’s popular food delivery platform has donated $350,000 in support of the relief and recovery efforts for the Central Texas floods.

“At DoorDash, our mission has always been to grow and empower local economies – part of that is providing support to the communities we serve in times of crisis. As devastating floods continue to impact areas of Texas, we are committed to standing with affected families, Dashers, and local businesses as they navigate this unimaginably difficult time,” the app stated on their official newsroom page.

$100,000 in DoorDash gift cards via the app’s Community Credits program were donated to non-profit organizations leading the on-the-ground recoveries fom the disaster.

The DoorDash Community Credits program is that which provides DoorDash gift cards to nthse non-profits so that they could reduce barriers to accessing food and essentials. Through this program, organizations could focus more on their core missions, such as providing mentorship, education, and support to their communities. You know DoorDash partners with a wide array of non-profits to distribute these credits, enabling them to address food insecurity and other needs within their respective communities.

The gift cards, with the $100 donation, will help alleviate some of the immediate burdens around access to food, groceries, and essentials for the community. Plus, relief supplies will also be donated from local DashMart locations to support these non-profits further.

On the official newsroom of DoorDash, a graphic design is posted, saying, “Texas, DoorDash is here for you.”

Apart from those, DoorDash is also making a $1 contribution for every order from Texas merchants, which is up to $250,000, to The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country’s Kerr County Flood Relief Fund, the team that supports first responders, government offices, and non-profits that work on food relief and recovery efforts.

Under this initiative, the impact of every order from the Texas community will get amplified, directing resources to the organizations making a difference on the ground.

“This is a challenging moment for many in Texas, and we remain committed to being a partner in recovery. We’ll continue to work with local leaders, nonprofits, and community members to assess evolving needs and deliver support where it’s most needed,” DoorDash added. “To our Texas community: We’re here for you.”
