DoorDash Customer Been Notified Their Food Arrived, Then Was Showed Shocking Truth

A Reddit upload showing an encounter between a DoorDash customer and a delivery staff is making rounds online right now, giving rise to a conversation that has divided the community more than ever before.

On the Reddit upload, there is a screenshot showing the exchange between the DoorDash delivery staff and the customer.

The delivery person texted, “I’m here, can you come downstairs please, I have a baby in the car.”

To which the customer responded, “Apartment 3, I can’t come downstairs.”

This raises questions that involve concern, sympathy, and a matter of pride. Who’s in the wrong, and who’s according to the rules?

Usually, it is the delivery rider who goes to exactly where the customer is, unless the customer asked the food to be delivered in a hotel they checked-in, and similar situations. The rider should go directly to the customer’s area, no matter as to whether it’s upstairs in the condominium, or at the gate, unless otherwise specified through a note to the driver on the app.

But, what if the driver has a baby with him? The world stood still.

Can DoorDash delivery drivers bring with them other people during the job? Here’s what DoorDash is saying:

“As an independent contractor, you are free to choose the method by which you perform the delivery. It is entirely up to you to decide how you complete offers you’ve accepted, but anyone helping you dash shall also have a valid Dasher account as well.”

Even DoorDash looks uncertain. So, let’s ask the community. So far, the post has been upvoted around 5,900 times, as of the time of writing.

One comment, which received almost 4,000 upvotes, read: “I didn’t order a baby.” The category here is being unsympathetic.

Another user added: “I would not be allowed to take my child to my work while I do my job. Why is it okay for DoorDash?” Another comment that sided with the customer.

However, some others sided with the DoorDash driver, and that the customer should have merely looked at their surroundings, and not be stupid numb.

They wrote, “This just makes you look [judgmental] and like a rude customer that either doesn’t tip or tips very little. This is clearly a struggling mom that probably has to work multiple jobs just to make ends meet, and you’re being [judgmental].”

Others stated, “As my favorite piece of motto goes: You never know what someone is going through, so treat everybody with kindness,” and “Unless you are disabled in a wheelchair… maybe have some class solidarity and go get your food. So many people are struggling right now.”

If the driver doesn’t have another option but to have the baby with him during the delivery, since the mom might be working in the office, or is busy with other things, too, for the family, right?
