DiDi Promises More Than 100,000 Chinese EVs To Mexico By 2030

What do you get when China’s star ridesharing platform DiDi clashes with the market in Mexico and electric vehicles? Each of those three is massive right now, so it will certainly be a boom.

To prove that point, Bloomberg reportedly stated that DiDi, a ride-hailing platform that started in China, has revealed it is partnering with Chinese-made electric vehicle manufacturers to introduce over 100,000 of these to Mexico.

The EV brands mentioned in media reports were Deepal, BYD, and GAC, which are significant players in the industry. Mexico is not only headstrong today in terms of the global economy, but it is also the largest Chinese car importer.

With this partnership, DiDi will compete directly with Uber Mexico. Uber’s division in Mexico, for instance, has millions of foreign users.

Aside from introducing 100,000 electric vehicles, the company will also build more than 10,000 public charging stations in Brazil to support the growing EV infrastructure.

To drive a ridesharing car, it doesn’t necessarily need to be electric, but there are several benefits that electric cars can provide.

EVs are best known for their environmental friendliness, cost savings, and improved performance. They are known to produce no tailpipe emissions, and reduce air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions.

This type of car also has lower operating costs, including reduced fuel costs and lower maintenance needs. In addition, it offers instant torque and acceleration, which enhances driving performance.

So, DiDi has really hit the right spot with this undertaking.

A Mexican representative for Didi has reiterated that switching from fuel-powered vehicles to EVs can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 70 percent. By the end of this decade, this landmark initiative is projected to help cut down over 500,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions in the South American country, which is reportedly equal to planting 8.5 million trees over the years to come.

If Uber is to the United States, DiDi is to China. They previously expanded to Brazil, where they acquired 99, the country’s most popular ride-hailing platform. They further expanded to launch 99 Food, the counterpart of Uber Eats and GrabFood in Southeast Asia. Media reports say these services are now already serving over 550 million individuals and covering, get this, over 3,400 cities and towns across the country.

Didi truly has a legacy in using electric vehicles on the road. The world awaits.
