Delhi Completely Set To Get Bharat Taxis Starting New Year 2026

Things are set, and Delhi is just looking forward for passengers to try this offering. It’s official, this January 1st, New Year 2026, Delhi will get the much-awaited Bharat taxis.

Ridesharing media stated that every preparation for the taxi service is already complete. Bharat Taxi will be serving as additional option – perhaps even better – to the app-based aggregators like Uber, Rapido, and Ola.

The government reported that around 56,000 drivers have already registered on the Bharat Taxi official app. After New Delhi, the next target city is Gujarat’s Rajkot. More than 20 cities will be given with Bharat taxis in the following weeks.

In a previous report, Ridesharing Forum talked about how Bharat Taxi might just be the perfect alternative to the rising costs of ridesharing in India. Nowadays, people prefer ridesharing or ride-hailing for it is faster, safer, and more convenient, except that the prices are high. The app is designed to help curb uncontrolled surge pricing, especially during times when motorists need to go home fast from their workplaces. It will also seek to address unaddressed complaints.

Bharat Taxi, which will be operated by a co-op, pertains to this service as “a sustainable and democratic taxi service owned and operated by drivers” and will deliver “fair income, social security and dignified livelihood for drivers through collective ownership and cooperative principles.”

This app is already accessible via Android, promising passengers the chance to “book cabs in all major cities and countless small towns across India.” It will also operate cabs, private cabs, motorcycles, and even three-wheeled auto-rickshaws.

Bharat Taxi is also branded as India’s first cooperative taxi service that operates on a zero-commission model.

Starting this New Year 2026, cars, bikes, and auto-rickshaws will be available to order via the Bharat Taxi platform. Sooner, it will be available on Apple devices, too. You can register with your mobile number, enter your pick-up and drop-off locations, choose a ride, and track your journey in real-time.

The app is also set to offer features like user-friendly mobile bookings, transparent fare structure, real-time vehicle tracking, a multilingual interface, and a 24/7 customer support. With regards to the safety features, these include integration with the Delhi Police and other relevant agencies, verified driver onboarding, and the ability to share ride details.

The Bharat Taxi app business model will also be founded on a driver-owned cooperative system, providing drivers with higher income and better working conditions. Drivers are to receive up to 80 percent of the fare directly, for which a monthly credit system has been created and built. This platform is bound to provide drivers with an independent and equitable alternative, instead of totally depending on private companies.
