If you’ve left a turtle in an Uber car, will you be confident enough to call Uber officials to tell them you’ve left this pet? Apparently, not everybody will because Uber believes this, among other items, is the weirdest to have ever been left inside a rideshare vehicle.
Weirdest items left
Uber should build a lost-and-found system soon because passengers may be shy to call its officials to report lost items when these items are turtles, mannequin heads with human hairs, breast milk, chainsaws – yes, and that’s creepy – “Ghostbusters” ghost traps, and even, get this, urinals, among others. Whoa, among others, still.
The ridesharing platform giant has reportedly released a list of the weirdest items left in its cars, so strange common stuff like phones, wallets, keys, and the like will feel intimidated over those items.
Meanwhile, Uber stated a combined 1.7 million phones were lost over the year, with Apple being the most common brand to be left behind.
In addition, the data also revealed that New York City was the most forgetful, and it was on October 26th – “the Saturday of Halloweekend” – when the most common day to forget something happened. More so, red was the most common color lost, and believe it or not, Philadelphia Eagles merchandise was the most popular sports team forgotten.
Ridesharing murder! Well, almost
Meanwhile, in other ridesharing news, crimes committed in relation to these platforms have been increasing lately. One of the most recent ones was this man from San Jose taken into custody after firing a gun into a ride-hailing car on New Year’s Eve, hitting one of the three lady passengers inside. The criminal was arrested for attempted murder on Tuesday this week, according to the San Jose Police Department.
Wait a minute, why was this New Year’s Eve incident only attended to by the media now?
According to reports, authorities responded on Christmas Eve, less than an hour before midnight, to the report of a shooting nearby Don Alfonso Way and Entrada Cedros.
The suspect, a 19-year-old, allegedly approached the car and took out his firearm, then shot at the vehicle as the driver started to drift away, according to the police.
The victim, one of the women, got injured in the ambush while the driver was brought to a local hospital. They were treated for both mild and serious injuries.
The police officials are keeping mum on whether the attack had a motive or was random.
The teenage suspect was taken into custody shortly after. Then, several months after, last Tuesday, a search warrant was conducted, and the police concluded where the unserialized assault rifle was located.
The criminal was arrested and taken into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for attempted murder, discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle, possession of an assault rifle, and vandalism.
