The costs of Uber today can be staggering. Sure, you get a more convenient transport service than what you can get from cabs, but the fares are around 30 percent to as much as 50 percent higher than those of cabs.

Such is what is going to happen in Miami, Florida, as college students and local residents are bound to be able to ride an Uber for free – tips are free, too – as they journey to their Easter Sunday service this April 20th.
Their ‘gift to U’
The campaign is known as “Uber to Church,” which allows passengers within the five-mile radius of the University of Miami’s Coral Gables campus to claim their free Uber voucher to and from the church.
“Free Uber rides to church this Easter,” said their official website. “Our gift to U.”
The program was originally designed for students, but because of overwhelming interest, it was opened to everybody. Now, non-students and their family and friends can participate, provided they live within the designated zones.
“Some people may think we’re crazy for doing this,” said Reality Church Miami’s Pastor Carlos Lollett. “But we believe it’s a small price to pay to reach students who might be struggling with loneliness or just need a place to feel seen. And we’ve got an entire community of generous members backing us up.”
How it works
The ulterior motive of this program is not just to offer free rides and amaze the world but to help students access their Easter Sunday church service without nagging their parents to give them transportation allowance.
“This isn’t about church attendance stats,” Pastor Carlos further went on. “It’s about showing up for a generation that often feels overlooked and doing it in a way that’s practical and real.”
To be eligible and access the rides, go to the official website as linked above. Then, claim a voucher and present your email or student ID. Now, you can schedule your free ride using the Uber app.
