Here’s why: Coco Robotics, and Deliveroo – which is from DoorDash – recently announced an exclusive partnership in order to scale the deliveries of robots across the United Kingdom.
According to a story on popular website tellling commerce news, MarketScreener, Coco Robotics – a company that does sidewalk delivery operations, and is the largest of this kind in the USA AND Europe – signed a deal with Deliveroo, now a brand within DoorDash, to bring robot deliveries to towns and cities in the western European country through a new strategic partnership.
Coco Robotics will launch its products in several places, beginning with Canary Wharf in London this October, then in Milton Keynes, Leeds, Stockton on Tees, and Nottingham in the next weeks and months.
It was around last year, 2025, when Deliveroo did talks with DoorDash, the number one food delivery app, and in spite of the setbacks, the partnership ensued.
According to an earlier report here on RSF, this deal, which DoorDash availed of entirely through cash, gives it a giant and strong foothold in key European and Middle Eastern markets, originally belonging to Deliveroo. The result will be that it reshapes the competition in those regions.
First, it will expand DoorDash’s global footprint. Secondly, this acquisition will better align the operations and services of those companies. Third and last, it is inevitable for this acquisition not to reshape market competition.
"London is where Deliveroo was born, so it feels fitting that we’re launching our first UK autonomous delivery service with Coco Robotics here before expanding our exclusive partnership to more towns and cities nationwide, building on our partnership in other geographies,” Miki Kuusi, the CEO at Deliveroo and Head of DoorDash International, was stating.
Under this historic partnership, customers can order from the likes of Patty&Bun, as well as independent family-run brands like Signorelli, then coffee shop and restaurant Beam in Wood Wharf, Canary Wharf, and more, before this expands to the more popular brands, like Din Tai Fung, Royal China, and Ole & Steen.
In Milton Keynes, consumers will be able to order from Smoke and Pepper, among others, when this officially starts to roll out.
Zach Rash, the CEO and co-founder of Coco Robotics, told RSF, “We’re thrilled to be bringing Coco to Great Britain with Deliveroo as our launch partner, building on our existing partnership with DoorDash. The interest here has been incredible, and we’re committed to building something that creates lasting value for local merchants and the communities they serve. As we expand further across Great Britain, we look forward to giving more businesses another reliable delivery option and more communities access to the kind of infrastructure that makes delivery work better for everyone.”
Coco Robotics is an autonomous sidewalk delivery firm that makes use four-wheeled robots to transport food, groceries, and retail goods to customers and people across the markets it serves.
“We see huge potential in autonomous delivery, and we are looking forward to working with Coco to bring more flexibility to our delivery network, helping local restaurants and shops meet increasing consumer demand. We firmly believe that robot and drone technology should benefit High Street businesses of all sizes, helping them remain competitive and meet consumers in new ways.” Kuusi added.
