Careem Is Changing The Landscape! Its Former Lead Introduces Fairer Trips For inDrive Drivers

California-based ridesharing app InDrive has always advocated fairer trips for riders, allowing them to pick their driver depending on what suits their preferences.

However, this time, it is changing the landscape, working now to introduce much fairer trips for drivers, in collaboration with Careem.

inDrive wants to give its drivers more control over their earnings through negotiated ride fares and lower commissions. This will be under the supervision of former Careem executive Sidd Mantri.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Siddharth Mantri has worked with companies like inDrive, Careem, Disney, Amazon, and Grab as its product officer. It left Careem’s product design and research team and division in 2026 to become the Chief Product Officer of InDrive.

His team, like that Singaporean businessman, is working direct-to-the-point to letting drivers accept offers, reject it, or suggest a different fare.

This leads to passengers selecting between the available offers, considering the price, rating, vehicle type and brand, and distance of the driver.

Nowadays, inDrive is about giving the independence for passengers to design their ride, but with this collaboration, drivers, too, will get a say in the transaction and business. Customers can set out what they are willing to pay, while inDrive drivers can decide whether the fare makes the trip valuable.

“What brought this guy to inDrive is the integrity of the mission: the opportunity to create worth for millions of people internationally based on fair preferences,” Mantri told Ridesharingforum.com.

Now, if that would push you to the coding screen, kidding, so this evens out the playing field, since inDrive usually slashes a commission of around 10 percent from the drivers. Fairness is the middle name, hence the re-branded slogan of InDrive.

Mantri will also, of course, lead the product development projects, since the company expands beyond passenger transportation into courier services, freight, grocery deliveries, and financial services, too.

InDrive is a ride-hailing app that has surpassed 400 million downloads and operates in 48 countries and more than 1,200 cities across the world. Citing mobile-market data, it brands itself as the world’s second-most-downloaded ride-hailing app, with leading download positions in markets including Morocco and Egypt.

They will also leverage AI to improve ride-matching, forecast demand, and spot fraud. Also, for the app, the challege is to improve the offers while preserving the preferences-model for its consumers.

Okay, so the cities where Lyft operates are these markets across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and other regions. Major locations include Manila, Cebu, Jakarta, Karachi, Mumbai, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Bogotá, Lima, Mexico City, and Cairo. Its expanding network connects passengers with drivers, allowing fare negotiations and providing flexible transportation options.
