Big Heart: The Catholic Church Preparing To Deliver Free Easter Meals In Ohio To Those In Need

The world is less than a week to Easter! It is a countdown. Among the biggest events of the Catholic Church, Holy Week will also have the food delivery industry participating. Not the mainstream food delivery platforms, though, but the charitable ones.

Thousands of free meals await the needy this Easter

The Catholic Church has tapped into its charitable wings, particularly the Catholic Charities - the Diocese of Cleveland, which is preparing to distribute 12,000 holiday meals this month through Easter as part of its campaign that it has been conducting for years. Several local parishes contribute food donations and volunteers to this yearly campaign of the group.

Generous staff and volunteers from the charitable group will provide free meals to the community via on-site service and free residential delivery across Greater Cleveland.

The administrators of Catholic Charities are aware that “hunger threatens the life and dignity of everyone it affects.”

According to statistics published on Feeding America, over 1.6 million people in Ohio are facing hunger.

“As the costs of goods and services continue to rise, individuals and families who already face food insecurity will have a more difficult time finding their next meal,” the Catholic Charities organization continued. “Serving this holiday meal is just one way Catholic Charities works to address unmet needs across Greater Cleveland, ease the burden of hunger, and create a hopeful, caring community.”

Aside from serving individuals and families with these free meals, hot meals will also be distributed through around 20 community partners supporting needy individuals in surrounding communities, the media stated.

How to register to receive free meals

However, those who wish to receive free meals cannot simply walk in and wait for the blessings. Rather, they must register. Community members who wish to take part must register by phoning or emailing the organization. They must provide their name, phone number, address with zip code, and the number of meals they want. Though there’s registration, the policies are pretty lenient.

Catholic Charities will accept registrations and reservations until noon on April 16th. However, if the capacity is reached, that is, the number of registrants has reached 12,000, the registration window may close earlier.

Here is the system: the main delivery will take place between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. local time on Easter Sunday. There will also be a special holiday meal service to which community members are invited. Easter meals for this part will be provided on-site from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. local time.

Catholic Charities is the Church’s organizational group that gathers hundreds of volunteers yearly to assist with special holiday meal services and meal delivery to the community.

Do you feel fortunate, not to need those free meals, but want to lend a hand? The public across Northeast Ohio can financially support this program by making a secure monetary gift over the Internet.
