If you don’t know, several years ago, Uber, yes, no other than Uber, the world’s number one ridesharing app, purchased and acquired the then small-time Postmates for $2.65 billion – and until now, Ridesharing Forum doesn’t know if the terms of the purchase include silencing Postmates in ridesharing media – but big personalities like NBA superstar Kevin Durant had some “whispering” before this purchase occurred.
Ah, the legendary Kevin Durant. Excellent. One of the highest-paid NBA players, according to the business community, Durant is a forward for the NBA in his 30s. He is a two-time NBA champion, two-time Finals MVP, and a league MVP over a decade ago. As of today, he’s playing for the Houston Rockets.
Well, Durant isn’t like speaking out of nowhere, because, because he has invested roughly $1 million in the startup in 2016 at a discounted entry price. Based upon previous Forbes reports, the current value of his stake at that time was an estimated 15-fold, considering the Uber valuation, to $15 million.
So, in other words, Durant could score, or is now scoring a $15 million payday – could score, if Uber would buy Postmates, and it did.
But, during that time, the buzzes were in, and so are to the ears of Durant, who stated, “I want to use the checks I get from companies to create true generational wealth.”
At the very least, it was pleasant whispering.
And so, Uber purchased and acquired Postmates, and the rest is history.
Today, according to Sensor Tower, there were around 40,000 downloads for Postmates last month, which is fairly a huge number.
