Especially if there’s a big sale at the mall or a big event, hailing an Uber ride can be challenging, even if your app is working. Yes, it’s the crowds and the traffic.
This is why a serviced apartment property in the United Kingdom has thought of offering an Uber Kiosk to make it easier to book Uber’s services despite the crowd. Here’s the scoop, plus Waymo launching autonomous ride-hailing services in Atlanta.
Charles Hope Brentford
Charles Hope Brentford offers modern and comfortable serviced apartments for both short and long-term stays in the area. There’s a new feature to look forward to in this apartment: the Uber Kiosk.
This kiosk has been set up in the lobby exclusively for Uber to provide guests with information on local and national transport.
So, it’s like those booths in shopping malls operated by humans where you can ask for assistance with booking Uber rides.
The apartment’s Uber Kiosk was developed in partnership with The WeKnow Group, which is under the travel industry. It provides instant access to information on local transport, as well as those for nationwide, including train and bus timetables.
Approaching the booth, guests can check real-time flight information, plan public transport journeys, compare routes, and purchase tickets on the spot. It’s like making your Uber app work if there are issues with the Internet.
Of course, guests may also book Uber rides with options for instant pick-up or scheduled at a later time, payable via card or contactless.
The kiosk is also available for assistance with ordering food from local restaurants via Uber Eats.
This Uber Kiosk has been built with the needs of international tourists in mind, offering multilingual support and 24/7 functionality.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to introduce this level of innovation to our guests. The Uber Kiosk is a true game-changer – it gives our guests more freedom, better access to the city, and makes it easier to plan and enjoy their stay, all at their own pace,” Stephanie Collins, the director of guest services at Charles Hope Brentford, was happy about the launch.
Waymo in Georgia
Atlanta folks, prepare for more driverless rides around town! Uber just started autonomous ride-hailing in Atlanta last Tuesday, following successful operations in Austin since March.
But, here’s how it’s gonna work. Riders will be paying the same rates as they do for UberX, Uber Comfort Electric, and the standard Uber Comfort when on a Waymo self-driving vehicle, but there will be no tips required. Thank goodness.
It was in September 2024 when Uber and Waymo first announced this plan for beautiful Atlanta.
Now that it has come into fruition, Waymo autonomous vehicles on the Uber app will travel across 65 square miles of this destination.
Waymo is a company that works under Google. It develops autonomous driving technology and operates its own ride-hailing service, Waymo One, using fully self-driving cars.
