Amazon Flex’s Official Blog Shares Tips On How To Deliver Safely This Winter Season

When delivering using the Amazon Flex platform during the winter season, it is best to be safe than sorry. Accidents and mishaps can occur, so you must know ways how to prevent them. On Thursday, Amazon Flex shared some tips on its official blog page.

“Our deep commitment to safety guides our approach to everything at Amazon Flex,” the official blog post stated. “As an Amazon Flex delivery partner, during the cold weather months, it’s important to take extra precautions to keep yourself and your vehicle safe.”

The first is to stay aware of the climate. Weather can be unpredictable, but when you choose to work with Amazon Flex, you get access to the forecasts of their resident meteorologist who will assess potential weather impacts and provide timely information so you stay safe while on the road.

“If inclement weather is expected to impact your area and scheduled delivery block, we provide updates before, during, and after weather events via the Amazon Flex app and by email,” said Amazon Flex.

Plus, you may also head over to the “Updates” section in the app for weather-related safety updates, keeping you informed and prepared.

The second is safe driving. Of course, take precautions when driving in snowy, icy, and rainy conditions.

“While driving, reduce your speed to ensure your tires keep their grip on the road. We also recommend maintaining extra distance between your vehicle and others so you have more time to react,” Amazon Flex advises.

Furthermore, when you encounter low visibility due to snowfall or fog, it is recommended that you pull over to review the delivery address first to avoid stopping in traffic, which can be challenging in winter.

Then, you should also service your vehicle. According to Amazon Flex, you must keep your car properly maintained, especially in winter when heating systems work double-time

“Take time to warm up your vehicle and maintain proper fuel or electric vehicle battery levels to ensure it’s ready and functioning properly,” experts at Amazon Flex indicated. “Regularly check tire treads, fluid levels, and lights to stay prepared for shorter and colder days.”

Last but certainly not least, is to stay warm. Temperatures drop during winter, so you must wear warm, protective layers, such as coats, gloves, and hats.

“We also recommend wearing a safety vest as your outermost layer. Amazon-branded safety vests are available to you at the delivery station at no cost,” Amazon Flex added.

Such vests utilize the best of reflective technology so you remain visible to other cars and motorists. You should also invest in slip-resistant footwear to provide more traction and grip on slick and icy surfaces. Listen to your body for temperature-related numbness, tingling, or stinging in your fingers and toes.

“When you’re delivering this winter, and any other time, you should never make a delivery if you feel unsafe. Your safety is our priority, and our Driver Support team is available through the Amazon Flex app to help assist you anytime,” Amazon Flex advises.
